Hello! My name is Roar from Norway. This is my 850 Coupé that I bought on eBay, flew down to Chichester, picked it up and drove it home through England-France-Belgium-Netherlands-Germany-Denmark and boat to Norway. The trip went well, only issue was overheating if we went over 90 km/h so we kept a keen eye on the speedo/ temp gauges. Always wanted one of these early series 1 cars. From the pick up in Chichester. The car in Littlehahpton, England. Resting in Germany to get the temp down.(Just been overtaken by a 2CV...:-) Home with norwegian plates. Now that it was home I had to start modding it to make it my dreamcar.

Wow, never seen one with wire wheels & really like their '60's look, matches the unexpectedly great colour!

This beautiful color is an originalcolor for the Fiat 850 Coupė, but this car was originally beige. The wheels are an original option from Ruote Borrani of Milan. Very rare and cool.

The first upgrade I did was to install instruments with revcounter from a Sport coupé, Original instruments. With revcounter. I also got my hands on some wide steel wheels to get it closer to the OT look. Original Abarth OT steeringwheels are way to expensive for me so I tried to make a replica out of a cheaper steeringwheel using handfiles. Bought on eBay, not quite the right design. WIP. Goal. Result. In place, happy with the result! Good night for now, more to come soon! :-)

Next step to make an OT replica is the badges, sounds easy enough but it was a real hassle to get right. A lot of looking at old pictures for right placing and making a template for the holes. The letters have 2 screwholes each. Looks a bit afraid....? :-D Ready for the drill. Steady... Finished FIAT ABARTH OMOLOGATO TURISMO 1000. Side badges correctly placed, CAMPIONE DEL MONDO! My garage is a mess...Sorry!

Now it was time for the largest emblem of them all, the front emblem/grille. I managed to source a replicagrille from Belgium, very expensive but still a fraction of the cost of an original Abarthpiece. It was a replica OT1300 grille witch is a little wider and higher than the OTS/R 1000 grilles. When the grille arrived, the first thing I noticed was that it was flat.... The front of an 850 coupé is all other than flat! A lot of work had to be done to get it to fit right, involving cutting and bending it to shape. But then the plastic piece with the letters would not fit, so I cut that in to shape and rewrote it to say 1000 instead of 1300. My experience with Abarth replica parts this far has been - Expensive but curse word quality! More on that later.... Getting ready for surgery! Grille cut and bent into shape. Reshaped and modded letters. Screwholes drilled and marking for grille cutout. The point of no return.... Now we are getting somewhere! Lettering glued on. Voila! Very happy with the result, considering what I had to work with. More soon.

Nice! Glad you didn´t go for the "spare tyre poking out of the front, in a desperate attempt to balance the car" as with the 2000!

Now it was time for some more power, the 850 Coupé engine produces 47 hp. I got my hands on an Autobianchi A112 Abarth engine with reversed rotation, ready to go! This engine produces 70 hp but this one has a skimmed/Portes head, S/T cam, a 36 DCD Weber, and Abarth exhaust so maybe around 80 hp...? With more power also came the need for more cooling, time to put that front grille to use. Out with the old. A112 unit reversed with pbs shorty waterpump and high capacity Abarth replica oil pan. Plumbing going on. Fiesta radiator fitted nicely in the front. Made a hole in the bottom for exiting the hot air. Made an aluminium shroud to push the air through the radiator and down under the car. Also mounted an electric fan.

I always loved the Abarth Campagnolo wheels, but the price for original wheels is insane! When i saw that middle barton had teamed up with Compomotive to make replicas i was extatic!! I had to have a set, They come in 6, 7 and 8 x13", I went for 7x13" and that is the widest you can go with a standard body. The tires are 185/60/13 for now, but I am saving for some classic tires to get the right look. Woohooo! Good day! 185/60/13 New wheels on the car! With the new wheels it was clear that i had to do something about the stance, it was to high in the rear. The frontheight was ok, but i had both a lowering crossmember and an Abarth lowering spring so there teally was no suspensiontravel at all. Dangerous and uncomfortable! So i bought an adjustable coilover set for the front and cut the rearsprings a 1/2 turn, now i think the stance is spot on. The two lowering devices that came off. New front end! Had to paint the parts black, as this is no circus!! :-D All in place! Down on the ground again and I am satisfied with the stance. Some pics from out in the wild! Now we are almost up to date! I have some new plans, so more to come.... :-)

Love this! It looks great! Quite the drive to get it home too! Funnily enough, I’m currently thinking about buying a car from Norway!

Amazed the big wheels fit under the body, deservedly impressive results! Glad to see the no-doubt expensive bits used & beautiful after your efforts.
