Hi All Well here's a weird one for you ! First of all is it Retro enough ?? It's a 1987 Ginetta G26 I picked this up in June 2012 in a moment of madness ! Sold as a kit in various states of build mainly to suit your budget by the Walkett Brothers of Essex, when the company hit hard times in the eighties recession they experimented a move to the Kitcar market there was also an uproot to Scunthorpe ? around 300 were made, exact figure unknown? 99% were on a 'Q' prefix as is this . . . Parts bin on these is pretty epic . . . and includes: Fibreglass body, with Galvanised chassis Fiesta MK2 doors & rear Glass, XR2I front seats Cortina MK4/5 running gear, suspension, brakes, front screen, dash rear seats 1982 2.0 Pinto (CT) with type 9 5 speed box, Capri/Sierra ? Manual pop up headlights !!! P1ss funny !!, with mini headlight bowl's/H4 glass Imp boot hinges, French front light units ? Wheels where a Ginetta option, all I know is there 14" 7J, made is Aus, stamped on the back. 185/70/14 front, 205/70/14 rear, with a crazy offset ? Plus Lots more that I've already forgot . . . . . Got some plans for it so . . look out or look away Comments a must ! Cheers Dave

Cool and interesting car! Wheels made in Australia you say? Or is it Austria? They certainly don't look like any of the common 14" Hotwires, which were very popular in Australia back in the day. I've found a listing for similar wheels to yours in Ford 5-stud on Gumtree, but there's no information on who made them.

There's a G28 on here too.
I've a friend with a G26 too, so I'm familiar enough with them. That looks like one of the tidier examples I've seen, it looks to have been better cared for than most. The wheels certainly make it look classy.
A tasty engine transplant and keep the tidy standard exterior would seem a good plan. :-)

Any chance you could change the thread title to include the car's make, model and age? seems a shame to hide such a rarity with a cryptic description!

Fair point mate, edited Thanks for the comments all ;D Yeah future plans: I much needed drop 2/3" ? with some Gaz shocks Vented 2.8 Capri front disks and spacers Currently tarting the wheels up with a polish etc I might have a tickle with the Pinto, until I get bored and Stickaflex a Zetec in there ? And maybe a set of staggered splits for best ! Nice find on the wheels Waveman Yeah there stamped Australia on the back Inside is quite clean for now, with plently of room for the diff spares

I think I have a 80s kit car magazine in the garage that has a big feature on when the G26 was launched.
I shall dig it out.

There is a member that put a Nissan CA18DET in one of these.
I recon a Escort mkV RS2000 or a Scorpio 2.3 DOHC on Webers would rock. However there isn't a Weber manifold available for these engines.
And a Zetec makes 160hp on carbs anyway.

(I'm slightly ginetta mad, Ive a g15 ) look forward to seeing what you do with this Hey cheers mate Luckily I didn't pay the eBay price !! :-D I went into the classic car showroom it was advertised in Leeds and bid him there and then because it has been stood for a number of years ? But under cover ! I don't plan on bast@rdiz'in it to much !! I know it's not really one of the pretty Ginetta but that's why I personally like it ! G15's are bloody lovely BTW ;-) @shefcortina, is there anything left of the scrappers ? That you know of pal ? Ginetta did a rear spoiler as a option on these, wouldn't mind one if the chance came up, long shot i know ! Cheers Dave

Those are Performance brand mesh wheels. I don't know if they have an official name. Looks like a cool project!
