Quick update The trusty Pinto removed with supervision now in the ownership of my old fella Look at all the space between . . . . . . my ears ! I've purchased a engine stand to check the BOA engine over as its believed not to check the timing chain and tensioners at this point is asking for trouble ! More soon Dave

Currently working on the BOA engine, bolted upto the newly purchased stand What i'm doing here is nothing new, but after reading lots about cam chain tensioner wear and oil starvation on higher mileage engines I didn't want to just throw this beast in without a good look ! So all the nessesary parts removed, Plenum, cam covers, sump, water pump, timing cover, bottom pulley and injector rail etc, this was left ! And as the inevitable was stairing right at us, I could only feel relief we had took the time to check for wear ! I was sold the engine being told it had done less than 80k, so this is the start of the tensioner, slipper wear ! A quick look at the mains and liners and everything looks ok So I few parts to order, the cleaning of sump. oil pump and oil ways and then the rebuild ! Tar for Now Dave

Nice project! I have a few notes on Cosworth V6 conversions on my website that may be of use. Click on the link in my sig and take a look at the Cortina section. There's also a minor brake upgrade in there too that will apply to your car.

looks loverly!
A small query I have over your 'increase of airflow to radiator'. With what you have done, you need to think of where the air is going to go as you push it in to your engine bay. With no exit for the air, the engine bay is going to act a bit like a sail and all that air pushed up and into it is going to lift your car as the air has no exit for now. Unless you can redirect it back down once it has gone through the radiator?

Thanks for the info Monkey This is something I plan to look at once the new engine is in I'm pretty sure I will have to modify the bonnet in some way, given the extra height and width of the V6 So it would be right for some sort of exit holes Even toying with the idea of venting the wings ? Thanks for the comments Dave

The G26 BOA Cosworth that I know of is on ebay at the moment - if I had the room and a few less projects I would snap it up and swap the running gear into my G31. That has the potential to be a really good buy for someone.

Yep, went for a bargain price darkspeed, I will have to wait a few years for mine to go up in value, just so I can get back what I payed Well I think i've just extended the plans for the old girl ! I've decided to drop all the front subframe, to get it powdercoated and get it all polybushed up, this is the best chance i'm going to get ! Did I mention the old chap that originaly built this was a 1960/70's TT sidecar rider/builder ? Now i've had a proper look underneath, the level of detail in finely drilled bolts and safety lockwired is amazing ! Its a shame i'm going to have to cut it off to strip the whole thing down Anyway here's the latest The new void to look into, note the lockwire on the steering rack I've got a few things to do in here to fit the cossy ie, cut some of the angle cross member back, move some brake/fuel pipes around and modifiy the heater box etc Sorry theres not going to be many welding pic's even the chassis is galvanized Brake calipers and steering arms . . . . . . . . yep, you guess'ed it lockwired tar for now

Have a GRP-bro high-five. 8)
You know these RR guys are into their epic welding. What possible interest could they have in a GRP car with a galvo'd chassis ;D ;D ;D

Wow. That DID come up well. Personally, I'd leave it as-is.
I completed an unfinished Metisse years ago and did the galvo'd chassis in black, but it didn't take very well and didn't look great either. It might have been the paint I used.
But now you've got tidy metal, I'd flash that as a badge of honour. 15/20 years and no rust? WIN If you do paint it, I don't think you'd need hi-temp paint.
