This popped up on one of the local "reuse" groups, and as I'm looking out for a decent radio to go in one of the classics, I asked for it and, as no-one else was interested, the chap let me have it. It had originally been offered as "ideal for a first car", but no-one was interested. I guess first cars have changed a bit when no-one wants a tuner / MP3 / CD Player with front aux input. What surprised me, though, was that according to the manufacture sticker on the bottom, it's not even a year old. I come from a time when having both fast-forward and rewind on your car stereo was a bonus, so to drop on something like this, for free, still surprises me, and in a way inspires me to (a) get rid of a bit more stuff and (b) not be obsessed with trying to get something for it. Now needs to have apple car play and the android equivalent, well that was a week or two ago so who knows what the latest must have is Ttfn Glenn

Thank you to everyone for their positive messages, If the weather decides to play nice, this may be road ready this weekend, mind you ready doesn't mean worthy or legal but will be a big step emotionally, my t4 should really take priority but who could resist the chance of playing with a beach buggy Ttfn a very chilled and happy Glenn How did the weekend go? Nothing got done, had dinner out with family on Saturday for daughters birthday, then had a bout of exhaustion and spent most of the weekend sleeping. Plus the weather was abysmal. On a positive note, will be receiving a bonus at work, so compiling a shopping list of bits for the two buggies Ttfn a still positive Glenn

Might it be easier to adapt an aircooled beetle fuel tank to fit, or series landrover, Morris minor, might be cheaper than a bespoke one off Ttfn Glenn

I believe you could do with an easy win project, how about a psh bike restoration, then try fitting one of those bolt on engines, start to scratch the 2 stroke pitch, maybe then try a fat tyre conversion or maybe strapping another engine or two, give yourself a home built twin or triple or even a four, been having nasty thoughts about a micro square four If your head is in a bad place do not be too afraid or proud to seek professional help Ttfn Glenn

Is there a way of finding out which car a plate was originally issued to ? I have a 3 number/3 letter plate on the Coupe and have often wondered what it was originally issued to. Possibly try a freedom of information request, for a fiver they will give you all the info they have, but without names and addresses Ttfn Glenn

Stage 1 is to clean the rust and remove any sharp edges or loose chrome Stage 2 degrase the leg to ensure the repair sticks Stage 3 fill all the damage with epoxy Stage 4 flat with fine abrasive until the surface is completely smooth The only thing the epoxy does is to provide a flat surface for the seals to slide over, so if the finish isn't good, it will RIP the seals Ttfn Glenn

Helped a friend resurrect one that had been tucked away for over 10 years, new plugs and fuel, then running on 6 or 7, injectors were sticking, a few heat cycles and they all came back to life Ttfn Glenn

If you do end up with a too low screen, you can try tilting the seat backwards, chop it down to a 4 inch speedster screen, no need for wipers and washers then. To cut laminated glass, cut both sides, tap to separate, some meths on the join, quick bit of fire to soften the plastic, then slice along with a knife.
With great power(tools) comes great (I)responsibility Ttfn Glenn
