More today at lunchtime. Got the rest of the TD5 A/C system out of the engine bay. I'll be fitting the proper TDI setup at a later date. This is the redundant engine harness! Normally full of oil anyway due to the awful design and poor quality. Slightly less cluttered TD5 hole. Gotta get some of this in that hole. Speaking of holes. I need to modify the TD5 pedal box to take the cable throttle pedal and clutch master from the TDi. Brake servo will go straight on. I also pulled the active cornering wiring ready for removal and the auxiliary trailer socket wiring so I can tidy it all up when I've assembled the D1.5 into something resembling my vision. D2s get their speed reading from the ABS system not from a gearbox output.
Currently going to be fitting the 300 instruments to my D1.5 conversion.
Thanks for the info though. Ill crack on with mine now.

Next door to a drop off today. Looked good and unused all at once. Probably got me a little more excited than a Metro should. Wife said (very sternly) that I can't have it.

Today has been a Discovery day of discoveries. .. or something. Now, the truck gas served us very well for off road duties, towing, holiday transport east and west, recovery transport as far afield as Scarborough, epic road trips and the like. I have had to spend many a joyous hour welding it up but in general it's always looked tidy and stayed roadworthy. Due to the imminent swap, I've progressed with the strip down. Offside sill, normally behind plastic trim. Nearside sill base of B post And A post Offside rear storage and footwell vent. Boot floor. I'd like to say this is an isolated example of a rough old truck but it just isn't. This is a normal example of a 1994 Land Rover. Just wait until I get the dashboard out of it. Discovery 2s just don't do this (Although the chassis rot is incredible). I can't describe how much I'm looking forward to getting this sorted.

Here's an example of what I'm trying to get away from. There was a battery tray in there once.

Today, real progress was made rather than all that theoretical nonsense. Front end stripped from the donor. Rear bumper off too. Compared a few bits now it's more visible . Rear bumper brackets need making and I'll have to do something pedal boxy shortly. Aside from the brake pipes the donor is now ready to shed it's body. All the bolts are undone and the wiring is all off. Not long until the red one gets stripped.

Well after some thought and a few brainstorms, Operation Phil Doesn't Want To Weld Up An Old Discovery Any More Because It's Getting Out Of Hand or as everyone else is calling it "That'll never work again" is officially underway. Take one 300 Discovery with a rusty body and one TD5 with a non rusty body and a dead engine and make one really rusty vehicle. No, one non rusty vehicle. There's an easy way and a hard way to do this. I'm pitching somewhere in the middle I think. Sent from my ever hopeful planning toilet using proboards

LT77 boxes have a cast fork instead of a tinplate one like the R380s and the non Range Rover transfer boxes aren't chain driven do no worries there and Classics have the viscous centre diff too (Borg Warner). Might want to check the output splines on the gearbox though as they wear badly due to poor lubrication. The ZF is a good auto box but has speed specific shifts so on the M3 50mph roadworks area you'll be on the cusp of a noisy journey in third or a quiet journey in fourth. Also make sue if you're converting that you get an intact flexplate. Oh and once it's all together don't forget to bolt the torque convertor to the flexplate otherwise you won't get very far. Not from personal experience. ....

Have bought loads from them and regularly get their seconds bundles. My rally weapon Volvo Amazon used to appear on their page. I don't often stick stickers to things but it's good to have two or three drawers of my toolbox devoted to them. . .

Hello. I have run out of time and energy for this so someone really should buy it and finish it. It's a 1.9 SR manual, gold with black vinyl interior, it runs and drives and stops and has new brakes and more new unfitted and unnecessary brake parts. Centre silencer is almost non existent so I haven't MOTd it still as it's noisy and the ignition barrel is temperamental. Everything else is now fully functional. It has an alloy fuel tank fitted and it comes with a replacement front bumper as the one that's currently welded to it was made from scaffolding or something. Drivers seat is horrible. Carpets are questionable. Headlining is perfect. Tyres are all very good. Glass in all the holes that need it. Replacement hinge pins somewhere. Some spare lamps. Spare wheel, jack, Haynes comic in boot. Doesn't look like it has any major rot. Any repairs previously carried out are MOT standard rather than resto work. Nearside has damage to front wing and minor damage to door and quarter. Rear arches aren't great but aren't totally awful. I don't have any history with it but it's been off the road about 14 years. I have successfully driven it forwards and backwards around my car park at home. In this time I did not crash not fear for my existence. I make a decent cup of tea. There is a pub within sight of my place... and a bakery... Please buy it. Located BH23 Hampshire / Dorset border
