The 66 Mustang I looked at recently was horrific but looked great in the advert pictures. It's up for 23k but has 22k of filler and grot in it.
Having looked at an e type that's had an American resto, I'd almost be put off for ever.
Mind you, the quality of English work in my green car also consisted mainly of filler and bodge.
Basically, if someone else has owned or worked on something, chances are it's hiding horrors.
Mind you, some of the things on brand new cars would make you think twice. ..

If you contact Opel through Bookface, it turns out that they can be really quite helpful.

My friend still uses his pretty much daily for work, hauls domestic appliances and also fits it with a PA system when needed.

I've just been indirectly offered half a dozen Peugeot 505s. Mixture of saloon and estate and a substantial spares package. Probably needs to go as a job lot. Awaiting pictures or access but anyone with an interest please feel free to reply here.

I vote for doing something silly. You could spend a fortune getting it nice again and it's not like they're scarce....
Good luck.

Gauges are standard fit in these but not all models.
I think this was last for sale about 14 or 15 years ago. ...
No new progress sadly due to house and house sitting, chicken managing and work.
In theory it's still in my garage. ..........

Yup. He left the rear crossmember recognisable so any interested law enforcement questioning it's heritage and with half a clue could tell.
Not sure if there are any FC build pics available. I'll ask.

Well it was fine when I owned and drove it. It was fine while it was in the storage hedge and Dave has kept it on the road since.
GLWTS of what is an increasingly rare car if people are just scrapping roadworthy ones.

Thanks folks.
Racers Paradise do loads of Opel bodies and a "chassis in a bag" for under £40 if anyone needs one.
Next step, a bunch of ancient Tamiya stuff.
