I lined in inside of the wall with the membrane stuff, I’ll probably try and clad it at some point so I can paint it then, Reconnected the state of the art fuse board and socket, I’m an electrician so will replace and rewire the garage soon, just need to order the bits. Moved a couple of cars in now to keep them out the weather too.

fair play mate, thats a fair old restore on your hands. I think Id have been tempted to flatten it and start again. When I first got the keys I thought the same but the cost of replacement means I’ll have to patch it up. fair play mate, thats a fair old restore on your hands. I think Id have been tempted to flatten it and start again. I actually really like the fact he hasn’t done that. There’s not enough tumbledown old sheds that just get a bit of a fixup now and then left in the world. as well as vintage cars I like heritage buildings, and that includes sheds! Yeah, I don’t know who built it, but it was already a DIY job, I’ll give it a lick of paint and it should look fine. Well done, make do and mend until you win the lottery. In some parts of The World, they would call that a house and have half a dozen families suitably ensconced in there. I’m from Birmingham, so yeah, this would easily house 15 people Look into box profile metal roofing. Worked out cheaper than felt for my 30x20 garage roof. It'll last much longer too. I’ll have a look You'll get there with it; the log store looks great, and you will quickly gain experience and confidence to improve the rest. There's a great deal to be said for wooden garages, I am repairing the one which came with our place just over a year ago,
as I don't have the readies for a nice new workshop at the moment. If / when I do, I'll keep the old one too; warm(ish), no condensation, and saving the planet by not just throwing something away. It’s quite good fun though patching it up

Sold our house in March 2020 2 weeks before covid kicked off, moved in with in laws thinking won’t be there too long, but we were a bit wrong, 13 months later we found a house that she liked that also had a garage that I liked, The house was too expensive but we decided with some Inheritance from my late parents and if we get the biggest mortgage from the bank they would allow we could just make it work, we decided your only here once, so bought it. When viewed I didn’t look too much at the state of the garage, just the size and how many broken cars I could squeeze in. When we got the keys, it was obvious the garage hadn’t been looked after and the roof had been leaking for quite some time. This is a very tight budget, and I’m not carpenter or builder, so I’m sure there loads of stuff that will look a bit dodgy to the trained eye, I’ve spent about £350-£400 on bits and bobs to get the garage where it’s useable and dry, although the roofing membrane is just the underlay and I need to felt it, but that is likely to be about £400 in felt This was it when I first got the keys, The carport bit was emptied and bits of an old shed that was lying in the bushes was, used to make a back and side, the roof was partly replaced with newer second hand plywood, The main garage had the rotten bit taken out and new rafters added, so that was solid again. The side of the garage was totally rotten and the roof was so this was pulled down and replaced, some new feather Edge fence panels did the side quickly, and then a log shed was built with bits that were lying around. The carport was a bit short so I extended the roof with Somme plywood, looks dodgy but I hung off the end and it didn’t collapse, keeps the weather off the z4 which was my dads, it’s broken but I don’t want to sell it. I fitted a upvc door off Facebook, but I didn’t like it so decided to fit some garage doors I bought of Facebook too, That’s where I am with it now, it’s not the best looking thing in the world but it’s now useable and I can keep a couple of cars in the dry

This car is just pure sex...!!!! To see any Mk1 or Mk2 Escort that hasn't been slammed, sprayed a bright hue nor fitted with tiny 'MINILITE' wheels is somewhat refreshing (not saying any of that is bad, just so ruddy played out)! I applaud you... Gorgeous and infinitely appealing... It is lovely. I also like the fact that it doesn't have a massive array of Cibie Oscars like most seem to. t’s true. There when you go to an escort show there’s rows and rows of similar cars when won’t be many like this. , I didn’t want any of that really. I just wanted it to still look it’s fresh from 1977 With the alley cats being cracked I need some wheels that would go over the new calipers So I ended up with a Capri laser wheels, I sanded off the various letters and part numbers that are usually on the wheels as none of them matched. But £16 a wheels is cheap enough, powdercoated and the old tyres off the mexico steel wheels switched over got me out of trouble. The new brakes and discs look tidy sitting behind them too.

Been quite a while, I finished off the suspension and brakes, found two of the alley cat wheels were cracked after I had them dipped, And the car was in Classic Ford Magazine earlier this year. Only driven it twice this year, so really need to use it more, but a house move has taken up a lot time

Not a lot done over the last couple of weeks but I have been busy in the back ground. Some time ago while researching the Corsairs history from new I found that it had been originally sold buy Frank Cheverton the only Ford Dealers on the Isle of Wight in 1967 and was able to find this flyer, so from that I created a sensible looking period dealer sticker. Thanks to pauly22 for posting the image of his wheel centre cap stickers I contacted www.isaydingdong.com and sent the image of what I wanted off to them they then created the sticker for me. And I think it looks just right. Last week I decided to strip and repaint the 1970's Eversure trolley jack I inherited from my Uncle last year so that was dismantled and thoroughly cleaned and repainted I kept the factory red colour for hydraulic parts but changed the cream colour to a nice blue, I still have the main cover to fit and the manufactures plate when the cover has finished drying and the paint is hard.
Before After I do have a couple of other irons in the fire so to speak waiting for those to progress but more on those once I have all the pieces.
Looks good, I didn’t realise they would make other stickers too, useful to know. My Capri is originality from the isle of wright too, just saw yours is a DL number plate too.

I've now sorted the axle and got it rolling thank God! I'm after the cover that goes over the gear stick for forward neutral and reverse between your legs if youve got it at all? Mine was missing it when I got it I have got two of them but I need them for mine. I had to buy them separate myself. I nice piece of checker plate off eBay. Make a carbfboard template to get the gear home in right place and a 32mm drill bit will make a nice replacement. That what I planned before I sourced the original ones.

Yeah i can get the mower into netual perfectly fine as when in either forward or reservse i can't move the pulley apart from a little free play but once in netual I can spin the pulley fine but I can't roll it around and i don't fancy putting another belt on it and it snaps it. I've got the deck off and going to give it a once over and see what's happening. Do you have any spares for these at all? I'm after a couple of bits I’ve got a few bits as I broke the one down as it was rotten.

Depends entirely on the car. On most FWD setups it's not too bad, as long as you are confidence in stripping a gearbox apart. This is easier in the Peugeots XU engined cars as the BE boxes generally let you remove the diff only in situ; I think for those you still need a dial gauge and some plastigauge to be fair, but I can't remember. For a RWD, you're probably best off leaving it to a specialist, due to it possibly changing the pinion to CROWNwheel engage. In theory that should not change however, but that's the theory... Where is PhoenixCapri when you need him? Depends entirely on the car. On most FWD setups it's not too bad, as long as you are confidence in stripping a gearbox apart. For a RWD, you're probably best off leaving it to a specialist, due to it possibly changing the pinion to CROWNwheel engage. In theory that should not change however, but that's the theory... Where is PhoenixCapri when you need him? Right then, when sticking the new one in it depends on the way the pinion and cage are mounted/adjusted (not sure on yours) but Idalways run through the setup procedure while you're at it, not that hard if tou take your time. As for ATB vs Plate, ran both in my Escort and the short answer is; ATB for fast road/occasional track, plate for track car. The ATB needs a small amount of traction on both wheels to actually lock up, thus it will spin up if you fully loose traction on one wheel (over kerbs in track is the obvious place where one wheel goes airborne). This makes them more forgiving and ideal for the road, it was still an LSD for most of the use I had but let you get away with things a plate wouldn't. ATBs also don't introduce understeer on corner entry like an overrun locking plate can (though it can be tuned out). Usually fair basic tools, though you might need to make up some bars to lock pinion shaft. Plate type will lock in all conditions, but then needs a better level of driving to account for this, especially in lift off (still think my running out of tallent once I'd switched to the plate on the Escort is why I rolled it!). But the ramp angles can be tuned so you can build something more fitting a particular use - e.g. you could have quick locking on drive but fairly open on overrun, to make it more forgiving. These days I run a plate on the Capri, but that's really only a track car. Still need to tune it as its forcing understeer into corners as its locking too much. It’s for a mk2 escort, online it’s down as a straight fit and forget replacement, wasn’t sure if was a simple job or get a professional to do it. I’ll be going for ATB one, as I only use it for road use and don’t want to be doing anything other than oil changes in it.

A vice and a workbench is always useful when doing up you car. Changing bushes especially. So the father in law had a vice that didn’t need and some sleepers that we’re just doing nothing I’ve got a work bench with vice. Even got a pillar drill but not ideal to be kept outside. Bushes, lower arms and brake pads. Are all I’m waiting for now. And some nuts and bolts I need before I can get started on rebuilding it all.
