Happy 20th RR. I joined mid 2005, it was DarrenW fault as he linked to a thread on RR from Volkzone. This year is 20yrs since I bought my Beetle, which is going to be 50 this year. Been absent from forum land for a few years now, family life and lock down ended my Gathering streak and the Weekender is always over my wife's birthday time, but who knows I may make a return this year.

In 2015 I won tickets to the Autosport show in the January of the following year. Unfortunately the guy who donated them left the publication and took months to respond to my messages. He left tickets on the gate, but they had no knowledge of him giving them away, but the staff in the office at the NEC honoured them after I produced the messages I'd sent. Not the bet of starts, but seeing Petter Solberg jump his WRX car through a flaming hoop to the Top Gun theme made up for the hassle. Also won assorted books and bits over the years. Nothing took my fancy this year sadly.

Long time no post! Lead to this post via a FB photo from my local classic car club who were out tonight. That Sabre 6 is owned locally and is one the six competition cars the factory built, it took on the 1965 Monte Carlo rally.

Massive thanks from me for all the hard work put in leading up the show and across the three days. You know the site well now and its a slick machine that operates at all times. It was nice to see the crew getting some down time as well during the weekend.
I'll see what I can do about helping more in the setup next year, its always fun marching up and down smashing things into the ground with a lump hammer!

It was nice to be able to have a slot on Sunday Morning to have the campers avoid the road traffic and get up to the show field but dragging a load of mud onto the hill was an unexpected and unwelcome consequence so unlikely we will do that again...... I checkede my tyres for mud as did Andy and Dan. Because we were all close to the campsite exit gate we were all clean. I can't speak for the rest of the site. Hopefully we can work something out for next year as it was very nice to not be queuing to get in.

Another thumbs up too everyone camping and the security crew. I overheard them briefing one of the new crew members about the vibe of the camping area and the show on Friday afternoon, they got it spot on.
My only minor gripe was the unnecessary driving to the toilets during the heavy rain. Nobody needed to be moving around at that point and the ground would have stood up better on Sunday morning without being churned up Saturday.

I was there at the beginning, I really need to be there at the 10th anniversary! Dates as soon as would be good too as we have a big camping trip planned around then with friends for my 40th.
In a BC way, I may be able to convince Mrs Speedman and small to come along too, maybe not the full weekend, but for a day trip in the Beetle as its only 50 miles from us.

Some people turn up at Friday 3pm - Speedman normally takes the award for "first here" - he normally takes a snap of the empty site with his camper in a prime position #Irememberwhenthiswasallorchards

That Warty was awesome, one of my favourite cars on the campsite.

Cool photos, we did wonder why you needed to change gear six times between the Esses corners!
Oh and are those Wartburg door handles, handed?

We had a variety of helpers that came and went (most not foolish enough to come back for a second round) LOL. You know I'm happy to assist where I can on the Friday. I'll try and sort coming earlier still next year and give a full days help. I always book the day off so I can leave early and beat the traffic, might as well put it to good use! By saturday afternoon I was nicely chilled on cider and taking it easy...whoops! Its always interesting to read behind the scenes at shows. Having spent a few years helping to run a huge one day VW show I appreciate all the work the whole team put in. Ignoring the damp end to Sunday it was a blast as ever. From camping with mates to some great cars. My only complaint as eveis the hill....its too steep, please flatten it out for next year

Since when has it been the job of security to provide bin bags, bring your own even in the smallest car there will be room for two binbags? Security were on the campsite gate handing out the goodie bags along with the binbags as people came in, its pretty standard for weekend show you go to.
