The best one for me was when Brewer picked up that brown Porka 928, and proceeded to get rid of those 'horrible' period BBS RS wheels it as on, and straight swapped them for a manky old set of teledials. You could see the dollar sings in the fella's eyes!
Nice car though
OR when they spunked all that money jacking up an old SJ410 that Brewer earlier proclaimed was a minter, to find it fails its MOT on terminal rust!
Makes me feel better about some of the rotters I've bought in the past

Ah I see. I'll have to look into using a mate's unit as I'm fairly certain I'll end up bumping into the wet paint, or trailing the air line across it.
Cheers!

Just a quick question in terms of room, did you find you had enough space to get round the car in that garage AK? I have a single garage, but have been told you can't get enough distance between gun and panel walking around the car in that confined a space?

I was chatting to my ex sales manager at Audi the other day. They're laying off used car buyers as the dealerships can't get rid of the stock they have. They had a really difficult September, with new car enquiries well below the norm for that time of year.
Another example is a used Audi Q7 at the moment is dropping over 2k a month in book value, so dealers just can't afford to have them standing around eating into their profits.
I think the slowdown will have a more pronounced effect on Audi (moreso than other prestige stuff) as a brand, because there are equally good substitutes available from VW, Seat, and Skoda.

WOW. Great work, few people have the patience to pull this sort of thing off.
Good to see that Novas are crossing over from scrap yard fodder to genuine modern classics.

Any guidelines as to mileage? Are ones with over 100k on likely to have a thirst for gallons of 10w40?
I'm looking at 2.0 TS models, I had a drive in a selespeed one last year and loved it

As far as drilling the jets goes, they're jetted as standard for the bike - eg 400/600cc so the main jet needs to be bigger to suit the larger cc as far as I know. On my carbs the main jets are one in each float bowl. I just took each float chamber off, removed the float, removed the main jet and drilled it, then put it all back together. If you want to be proper about it you can buy jets of various sizes to fit.
I rang Bogg Bros and asked for advice about how big to drill em. They told me to buy a set of engineers drills and drill out to 1.6. I've found they're more than willing to give advice over the phone for various carb related stuff.

I ran my Mk2 1300 Golf on CBR600 carbs, the ones I've got have 38mm chokes. After having fuel pressure problems I ended up using the bike's original fuel pump, which worked a treat. I drilled the mains out to 1.6mm, made a manifold and it ran spot on after I set the idle.

My dead ones, in no particular order... This was my first car ^, I used it, abused it, it never broke. It failed a test for a patch on one sill, I bought a mk2 and a mate bought the Mk1 as a project for £50. Last seen on a 'breaking' ad on ebay. I emailed the seller and he said it was too far gone to save scrapped in 2006. Next, the aforementioned mk2 ^, sold with no test for £200 and last seen ragged off up the street by a tracksuited w@nker. Last taxed 2006, almost definitely dead. Bought this one as a project with fresh paint, needed floors, inner wings repairing and a heater channel. Refitted the engine, rebuilt the interior, sold to a chap who claimed he would restore it for £250, he broke it for parts. Last taxed 1996. This was a great car, never let me down, the wife learnt to drive in it. Sold in 2006 with 9 months test and under 60k miles, no longer on DVLA database...? Bought with 2 months test on ebay for £77. Exhaust fell off, I was skint, sold for £50. It got hit outside the new owner's house and written off. Last taxed 2005. Got this for free, put a waterpump on it, smoked it for 6 months, and then sold it with no test for £20. Last taxed 2004 And finally, sold this last august, changed hands twice since, and was hit by a lorry in a car park 3 months ago. Bent the shell, written off.... Having just looked at that, I've realised all but 2 of the cars I've ever owned are now scrap! I've only been driving 9 years...!

Cheers for that, I'll keep popping in for a look round the local store. I usually drop the wife at morrisons and take the opportunity to go in for a look anyway.
Plus the Blackpool branch seem to have a policy of employing fit checkout girls too, which is a bonus!

Ouch! Good to see that the side airbags etc deployed, one great thing about modern stuff is you're much better protected when the worst happens.
Glad your missus is OK

Yeah it has. The olympics meant that all the docks filled with scrap, and the because the exporters were full to capacity, they could name their price.
Or at least that's what I was told when I got £8.50 for my old polo engine!
Would be interested to see this though
