I'm doing the same with the hijet bed. I've currently cut off the hinges & drilled all the spot welds off. The plan is to hold the sides in place with the original bed side clamps then use sections off angle to weld in place.

The 7"x5" headlights in my daihatsu are rusted & all the reflective is degraded so I've been told will fail an mot. I've looked online & replacements are rubbish but off road led ones are a lot better quality but are they mot legal?

I've been doing loads too both trucks but nothing to picture. They've been getting on my nerves lately so decided to make a frivolous purchase. Genuine nardi mx5 steering wheel with great lacquer peel & a bit tatty, perfect for this truck. Really like it & it's motivated me again to crack on

While I was waiting for the ignition module to show up I decided to pull the fuel tank & check through the fuel system & I'm glad I did. The petrol smelt like, like, like um stale petrol. The metal return line was corroded & the fuel filter was semi blocked & when I blew it out there was loads of crud. So I've ordered a slightly bigger straight pipe filter, an alloy housing, fuel pump, new 8mm cotton braided fuel line & stainless clips. That gave me time to remove the tank. Stripped, cleaned, jenolite red oxide & hammerite black paint. I've stripped & cleaned the sender & fuel pump housing & replaced the corroded plugs with waterproof ones. Here's where I am at the moment.

Looks like a good meet with some nice cars there. The Cadillac Lowrider is the stand out one for me. When you walked past all you could smell was fresh leather. Apparently he'd only had it back a week. Tries to get pics of the interior but it was always crowded.

The jet never ran when I bought it so this weekend I had a chance to check ignition, relays, coilpacks etc. I have a wiring short or earth somewhere as even with the key out the ignition I have the hazard light & battery light constantly lit up. I removed the coilpacks to check spark & had nothing so next was the ignition module on the rocker cover. It basically fell apart when I unbolted it from the rocker so I went on fb to source a replacement to see if it will sort my issue. Also did a compression test 190-175 on all 4 cylinders so happy with that. New part is ordered so will see if it fires this weekend.

I've been debating how I was going to tackle the cab & if I wanted the hassle. At the start of June I bought a pair of doors as mine are a but crusty in places. While buying the guy told me about a hijet pick up local so I asked him to sort a few pics. Fast forward until today & I finally got the chance to go & look at it. Cab is completely rust free & all the mechanicals look great. Low mileage & only 2 previous owners. A deal was done & I'm hoping to have it home next week. I'm going to tackle this a bit different to my normal strip it bare & start fresh, the plan is to sort the engine with a service, strip & rebuild brakes, check bushes, ball joints etc & mot it. Then I'll add my flipped rear axle, coilovers & wheels.
