Reading here, it seems the 80βs and 90βs and 00βs are back. Hey Folks! Another weekyear, another weekly chat, your place for stuff that may not warrant a full thread, or stuff that is just going on right now that you want to share. I had an actual break, like a proper one. Revisited my list of things to do for the forum and club RR. Trimmed that list in half so I wasn't constantly on the edge of nervous breakdown. Mainly that affects side projects, but it also affects the mobile view stuff as it will all go in the bin when the new proboards version is live and available to migrate to (which is this year apparently). I have some intentions for this year already, however I'm going to spend this Friday (my RR/RR Events time) getting them in order, getting some clear paths and directions sorted for them. We go into 2023, the 19th year this forum has existed, with a lot of good things in a lot of good places. Visitor numbers are strong, threads are great, Readers Rides is great, all the other little bits of the forum have their own stuff going on nicely. So we continue to be in a good spot to make things better for the retro/modified classic/classic/modern classic car enthusiast. Also I hear 2023 is the year of the minitruck Previous Thread: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/223717/chat-thread-happy-hanukkah-wc
Mini Trucks have never gone away, but the bright, lairy, complex paint jobs on cousins of Low-Riders and their extended family seems to be gaining popularity again. The automotive hobby certainly has something for every budget and taste these days. So no wonder Mini Trucks are making a resurgence. Have a few pics to kick you off. I would love to see what the UK delivers, there are a few known cars out there right now.

Chevy S10 brilliant little American pickup Super economical 2.2 l engine with manual box Very clean truck no rot or rust Imported by a 1st owner who was then stationed in US armed forces in the uk It has all the original purchased papers & receipts in a wallet Driven as my daily since owning and never missed a beat .. Β£5500 Do not message on Facebook or messenger as i wont / don't have time / internet access all the time to reply so Please call or txt message Dean 07887731752 These are known for doing 200k plus easily with maintenance. Another UK truck. And this from a guy called Mark Burton on FB Isuzu pup. 1987 Hydraulic on 4 corners. Needs a bed cover. Just had a new carb fitted last week. Now runs great. Β£8000.00 Dread to think what the paint and hydraulics cost someone. Trade or part x something cool. cash either way Something a bit bigger, ask pistonpopper about his brilliant LPG converted one, it could be for sale too. Or up your budget, quite a bit, and you can have this. Now go find and build a truck, you know you want to.

Coincidence... I was actually planning on building a mini truck this year too, well if I get time and if I haven't solid it off by then that is! US import, Hilux, was going for white and gold combo with a aluminum and Oak flat bed. Some nice inspiration here...

What sort of money would a starting point like that, come into the regular market at, in the UK ? The build I know would not be cheap.

Do you think you will have it out this year? Ha, it has sat since 1999 in the carport it was found in or my garage so there is no guarantee. I do have the rear suspension out ready to paint the frame if it gets warm enough then reassemble- pull the cab same - then move to the front. So, a definite maybe.

I love a minitruck, and if i still lived in the uk would 100% be keen. Over here though they're fairly common, and largely driven by young lads with no silencers, rolling coal and generally being antisocial. Have a whole field of awesome minitrucks and another epic truck as penance for the negativity there...

Do you think you will have it out this year? This thread motivated me, dry set up done. Need to blow the rear apart for cleanup and paint

I Love mini trucks, they were very much still in trend when i started reading/buying custom car magazines back in the day (street machine usualy) i always prefered the ones with less graphical paint myself Sadly many of the feature cars from back then have long since vanished, and even stock trucks to base them on are thin on the ground.. most likely rusted out or exported long ago I briefly owned a Bedford KB with intention on making one in the mid 00s, alas lack of space and money meant i ended up selling it before doing much other than some rust repairs to the cab, and they have only gotten rarer since

I love mini trucks but there is a real lack of them in the UK. I told my wife I wanted to build a mini truck. I was told as long as all the kids can ride along then that's fine. Well my take on a mini truck and generally a British icon is my 2003 mk6 transit crew cab. I have a build post. I have made my own air suspension. It sits fairly low when aired out. forum.retro-rides.org/thread/210862/crewcab-rider-highly-modified-workshop
