And you didn't run it up the strip!!!! It’s not run in, and with the recent problems we decided to get it sorted first...... but it was £25 for RWYB and I made sure I had arm restraints. So if we hadn’t had the problems running up to the Gathering, we would have Definitely sometime next year!! There's a RWYB at the Pod later in October, and a colleague from work is aiming to have his 1915cc Beetle ready for that, and I might even take mine along too - fancy a go at that?

My wife volunteers at the Black Country Living Museum, and all the buildings there have been transported piece by piece from their original locations. Every timber, brick, panel and tile is numberedas they're dismantled so it's just like putting together a giant kit afterwards. You could dismantle, dig foundations, build a proper dwarf wall (to building regs, can't hurt future development!), pour a reinforced, insulated slab then reassemble the barn. If the bottom 300mm is rotten, make the brick bit taller and cut down the wooden uprights.

A number of years playing in a band mean my hearing response may not be as good as it should 😁 I don't normally have it up loud enough for this.... honest. Usually only when my neighbor has chav pop on. I usually listen to chav pop but some b@st@rd keeps playing his 70s to modern punk, ska, rock, and metal so loud I can barely hear his grinder. Must be using a pa system or something! 😜 Nah, we'd get on fine! At school I use my laptop plugged into the speakers for my interactive whiteboard and at the unit we just have a succession of cheap crappy CD players. When they die, they hit the bin and another comes from freecycle. Oh, if anyone wants their heads messing with musically, go to YouTube and search for Bill McClintock - you'll thank me for it later...

There was a Japanese battle cars series on Amazon I think, where the drivers were using their own cars and taking no prisoners, pretty much destroying all manner of retro and other cars. I watched about five episodes and couldn't watch any more, and I haven't watched Hyperdrive yet incase its just an American version. Think I'll give it a go now!

On an old computer I had four or five other photos of the yellow Rabbit/Golf. Not sure if it's a custom frame or Beetle, but certainly an air-cooled Beetle engine and gearbox.

Just Google "Joe Stevens Sunbeam Stilleto" and you'll see a V8 Imp(ish!), with either its 900bhp supercharged motor or its 1000+bhp twin turbo engine. Goes well enough, and it's a street car...

Excellent! Those tools are great - I use a massive socket and a block of wood but nothing like having the right tool. Fingers crossed it stays oil tight!

Frogeye don't have a door card as such, just the ribbed rubber stuck inside. They also don't have door handles on the outside, they're proper basic!

I took him to Dragstalgia when he was 10 months old, and we went to Shakey a few times before it closed. He loved it there, but he likes anything to do with cars!
Fooled me! I saw the '32 rails and grille shell, and the body didn't instantly stand out as an A!

A huge thank you to everyone involved from me too. My hot rod was a very last minute addition to the guest cars and certainly stood out a little from the rest of the awesome race prepped monsters. The complimentary comments I received throughout the day from many people were much appreciated and I hope I reciprocated by entertaining on the hill. I will certainly be back. Ah, yours was the '32! My 3 year old lad was very impressed, if a little surprised! "Dad, look! A hot rod!"

I was just hoping that Sally wasn't kid#2 as mentioned a couple of pages back, who was supposed to be supervising (I mean being supervised by) QM.
You did remember kid#2 didn't you? Not stuck in elky's garage still?

Maybe because Beetle engines are so easy to remove, but I don't see it as sacrilegious. I actually really like it! Gives me a bit of a mojo boost - not everyone can pull a motor out.
With our body off restoration at school, I've told the students that they're entering into quite a small band of car enthusiasts who will ever actually go that far with a project. They feel quite proud of that!

By the way, Hub Nut is now the official spokesperson for BNMAC. Don't mention that to him though. It can get messy and litigious when you start bandying information about willy nilly, especially when not everyone involved is consenting. I liked that he mentioned the chugga chugga of the Beetle as I aimed carefully at his right foot, but then completely ignored it as he was introducing the cars in the club. He's definitely BNMAC material.

My money's on the car being an MR2 with a body kit. I mean, they couldn't even spell Ferrari right on the number plate...

Luckyseven pointed out at the show that I've only got one brake light, but that's not news to me. Thought it was more important to have brakes that work than brake lights... Still got to work out why fuses melt when I turn the headlights on though. What size fuses? My money would be a chaffed wire Er, the blue ones? That's all I had to hand last time, so chucked one of those in! I think most of the loom is toast, to be honest. I've got wires that stopped working years ago so they've got extras wrapped around the outside, stretched bits for the indicators, wires for the electronic ignition which aren't used any more, splices and bodged bits and all sorts. It's pretty much an electrical fire waiting to happen. I need to get a decent multimeter and a few rolls of wire, bite the bullet and just rip it all out and start again! I teach this stuff too!

I did also point out that it's an improvement over the way morning started when you had no brakes, full stop One of my indicators has filled up with water, does that count? That is true. What I don't think I said was that I started Saturday's task with a LHD master cylinder... If you've got water in your indicator, put in a little plastic goldfish. I've always wanted to see that!

I've just set off for my hours permit dodging drive, in case you were wondering why it has just started raining again. I just read that as you'd got a permit to go dogging. Can't see that being much fun in the rain...

What a great show, thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd like to write it up for PPC magazine, can anyone let me have an e-mail for the organiser so I can contact them. Also a big thanks to Pete Balcombe for helping out when I broke down on the M6 on the way home. Cheers Kev Kev, you need to speak to David (HoTWire) - he's the benevolent dictator behind the whole thing.
