Luckyseven pointed out at the show that I've only got one brake light, but that's not news to me. Thought it was more important to have brakes that work than brake lights... Still got to work out why fuses melt when I turn the headlights on though.

I did also point out that it's an improvement over the way morning started when you had no brakes, full stop
One of my indicators has filled up with water, does that count?

What I don't think I said was that I started Saturday's task with a LHD master cylinder... If you've got water in your indicator, put in a little plastic goldfish. I've always wanted to see that!

We did turn up with some finishing jobs from our Friday night engine removal and refit and we came home with a huge list of things that need fixing; Better crankcase breathing Have another check of the flywheel oil seal (been given a tool to fit it) Alternator needs lining up Need to sort a new alternator belt Drill the bellhousing Exhaust gasket leaks Fit a rev limiter! Fit the autometer tacho because it likes to rev now Smaller profile back tyres But if we hadn’t have turned up with it we’d have been chasing our tails for weeks and weeks, so it’s really good to have our list And then back to our original list... Sort the torque bar mounts Fit the seats Fabricate a wiring box for the dash Sort the flyscreen and upper screen I’m sure there is more, but that’ll do for a week or two

It's not exactly convenient having to get a jamesd1972 to follow you around with a Land Rover to decant the leaking petrol into It’s not leaking!! It’s making petrol!! We’ve had two tankers turn up today to take away all the fuel That was a bit of a comedy of comedies though, We brimmed it with fuel on Thursday night, mainly because I wanted to see if the baffle foam made any difference... so got 30 litres in it (which was full full) Then noticed it had urinated it’s oil, so got towed home and forgot about it, it was cold on Friday... We parked it up on Saturday and decanted about 400ml when the sun hit the tank On Sunday it was parked filler cap down the slope and we decanted another bit under a litre I think (which luckily has just made me feel much better for not buying jamesd1972 a return cup of tea ) So the easy fix is don’t fill it with as much fuel, going to move a bit of baffle foam under the filler cap so I can see the level better.... If I guess we should fit a fuel gauge which would get rid of any range anxiety.... so should add that to the list instead!

That's all I had to hand last time, so chucked one of those in! I think most of the loom is toast, to be honest. I've got wires that stopped working years ago so they've got extras wrapped around the outside, stretched bits for the indicators, wires for the electronic ignition which aren't used any more, splices and bodged bits and all sorts. It's pretty much an electrical fire waiting to happen. I need to get a decent multimeter and a few rolls of wire, bite the bullet and just rip it all out and start again! I teach this stuff too!

My engine v1.0 didn't make it, v2.0 did, but it needs more work, as it's burning lots of oil. I've used 1,5l so far on this 1000km trip, with 300km to go Guess the bent valve from v1.0 has done more damage to the guide than I expected.

Seems a few cars needed some work during the gathering, sadly. 😪 What's the progress? My steering column has just been removed to show lots of wear - not caused by the weekend but the hill showed it was time to investigate fully. Thankfully the rack seems ok. Seen on the live feed that a vx220 hit the bank not far from the start, I think that will need a bit of paint

Well our post 262 mile road trip list of additional things is well, er nothing. Despite being noisy slow and a bit uncomfortable everything functioned fine, even the nailed on tarp in heavy rain on the way back after the Morgan tour Monday. Still need to swap the engine out but the old one is still running OK for the time being so happy days. James PS johnthesparky thanks for the fuel it can offset the £70 worth we used getting there and back and you were welcome to the tea.
