I had a read up on what was popular, Innovate was one of the most common names but most searches revealed people having problems. My cousin fitted Innovate and it failed, they replaced it and some time later it failed again and he gave up. I'd read good reviews about PLX so gave theirs a go. In my research I’d initially done the name Innovate kept cropping up with mixed reviews. I’ve had a look at the PLX website and that looks a very trick bit of kit! The reason I was also looking at Stack was I was thinking of getting one of their boost gauges as my TIM one is rattling it’s nuts off on boost now. Well, last year also I bought a Stack boost gauge from Merlin Motorsport and it failed within two months! Sent it back to Merlin and they refunded me after it was tested by Stack and indeed it was faulty. I was rather disappointed. So, fed up I bought a cheap Bosch gauge (made in China) and it seems o.k. but probably won't last - thus my imterest in the AEM boost gauge. I'm sure the back is painted but I'd put something (stone chip etc) on them regardless, especially inside the arch lip as that's a rust trap.

Looking very good and it's the first time I've ever noticed those wheels, far better looking on your C than the SLK. If they feel very light I reckon they are one of Merc's forged offerings, the other I know of are 16X7 Toliman's also fitted to the early SLK (R170) and are only 6.2kg.

I can understand expensive professional restoration costs but 135K plus supply the donor vehicle...the world is gone mad, no two ways about it. Some premium for the 'Heritage' tag but no doubt somebody will pay it. Being actively involved in the world of retro / classic / vintage vehicle restoration 'what it costs' & 'expensive' are phrases I hear daily even though I am at the other end of the market from where Jaguar - Land Rover Heritage are - thing is you have to have an understanding of what it takes to produce something of that quality - you need a full machine shop, full fabrication shop, paint & trim facilities that demand the very latest equipment and when you have invested over a million £ in this lot along with a state of the art facility to house it all in you then need a team of the very best guys you can put your hands on to make everything work along with an excellent management team - the overheads will be very, very heavy but to produce restorations of this quality is what it takes and £135k minimum is nothing in the real world of vehicle restoration - once you get into the exotic end of the market (low volume vehicles) you are into several hundred thousand for a concours restoration. You can spin it anyway you want to justify the 135k+ but the bottom line is very simple, it's a Range Rover not a Ferrari Dino or some other exotic. And whatever JLR Hertiage investment costs actually are is irrelevant no matter if it's one pound or ten million. Don't take my comments to heart, it's only my opinion nothing more.

I'd paint the spokes black. and dye the yellow band black also. Since you mentioned changing the interior, have a look out for a Sport interior and the carbon trim to match. It would look great with the red paint work.

I think the only way to fit 16'' steels is to band a set of 16x7 E37, the W210 16x7.5 ET41's only seem to move the wheel closer to the suspension which I don't really want but I do like the steels. Of course spacers will do the trick but I ideally don't want them either but I may have follow your lead chompysnake.
At present my car (230K Sport version) has 16x7 ET37 alloys as standard and all I've done is leave the fronts as they are with standard 205/55 tyres and purchased the same style alloys for the rear 16x8 ET36 (also available with ET30 from the R170 SLK) with 225/50 tyres. These should fill the rear arches nicely I think as they'll poke out an extra 14mm. Hope I've no issues as they'll be 11mm closer to the suspension?

Because they were at the time of the photo. Had a 215/55/16 on the passenger and a 205/55/16 on the drivers! Now all match and are 215/45/16.... still look enormous though on steels. What ET are those steels? I was considering fitting 16x7.5 steels to my W202 but could only find W210's with an ET41.

It's bad, isn't? The recall is rather interesting.
I can't remember where I got my hose (but it was meant to correct spec for fuel injection and 8mm i.d) but this time I'm getting it from a local hydraulics/hose specialist. Anyway, thanks for highlighting the issue.
