In the two weeks of ownership, its done 500 miles without missing a beat and has already earned it's keep taking tools etc down to Auto Distraction H/Q. Cleaned up the interior so is not a bad place to be & fixed the inoperative screen washer. I will need to replace at least a pair of tyre's at some point soon due to cracking sidewalls and do at least an oil & filter change for piece of mind. Actually become quite fond of it!

They certainly look "right" and finish it well off. I think the rear is a candidate for being tugged due to obstruction but If it were mine, it would be staying just like that & deal with any consequences if they arise

Thought I would give a little feedback for those interested. We had our first open day last Saturday in absolutely torrential rain. At one point I thought no one would call in but as time went on we had a good number of local car guys visit, all with really positive encouragement for what we are doing which gave us some confirmation that we were onto something! We had a 18 year old lad with his Fiesta Ghia up to an older gent in his 70's with his Merc 190 so a great range of ages and experience. A bit of spannering took place but the "highlight" was the young chap who happened to mention his brakes were not exactly good! He had only had this car (his first) for two weeks and with the Fiesta's bonnet open, I explained the various fluids needing checking from time to time. He then pointed to the washer bottle which had its cap missing and some gaffer tape stuck over the filler lip. With some nervousness, he told me he had filled the brake fluid reservoir with pink screenwash thinking that's where it belonged!! By this point I didn't really know how to react but calmly informed him of this "slight" error. Anyhoo, it got sorted later in the day and I'm sure that won't happen again! For some reason I didn't feel it appropriate to take photo's but as we get to know folk better, i'm sure we will post pictures! If you are able to support us that would be really appreciated! www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/martin-plant-1?utm_term=Nwpx9pK74

Did a few jobs on this today like changing the worn out gear shift & handbrake gaiters as well as fitting the replacement 17" wheels. Obviously a harder ride with the 45 profile especially over the stone farm track but once on the open road it was pretty well behaved. Quite pleased. Have a few other jobs on it to do including: 1) No engine light, no limp mode, no speed limitations but it will not rev over 3250rpm in any gear so that needs looking into 2) Windscreen washers getting no water through to the jets or tubes leading to them. You can hear the pump working so would imagine its a blockage closer to the bottle

o after all these years of only phone calls & RR posts, Grizz & myself managed to meet up on his marathon road trip to Scotland at Gretna Green. Was really great meeting especially seeing as we both hail from the same city in SA! His original route before something changed it After telling him of my plans to fit some other wheels to the Astra which were about 270 miles from me, he did the Grizz thing and insisted on collecting them on my behalf adding another hour to his trip, what a gent! Said treasure tucked behind him It's been a great day indeed

There are certain brands which do nothing for you but somehow when the price is really good it's just silly not to buy one Now for some weeks I have been thinking about a cheap to run thing on wheels and this little 1.7 came into my life 110k miles and originally owned by Bridgend Council. It runs really well and with some tlc will make a decent van. Anyway, I'm off soon to meet a certain RR someone who despite chatting to for a few years have never met in person so laters........

Hi, Cut off and dress up the mounts on the rack. Bolt a piece of angle to the uprights and secure the rack to the angle with exhaust 'U' clamps. Simple and probably cheaper than another rack. Colin That's worth a try I reckon! A bodge is one thing but a bodge that works is awesome so lets give it a try

After seeing what you you bought Rian, I'm not sure I would fork out £6140 for the yellow jobbie. Clearly had an unloved life & it shows. Not sure what I would pay but not that. Pleasant colour though.

If you look online at the Planning Portal, there used to be an easy to understand walk through on what's allowed as "permitted development". You can also find Planning Geeks on FB who have proper advice.

Well I actually have that exact Sony fitted to my latest excrement box and it is a decent set. It does have MW too but no one seems to need that nowadays. It's got outputs for a single external amp and sub. Lot's of options although you can keep it as simple as you need. Bluetooth works well although I would get the rear plugged external mic as well if it's not included in the box. I'm unsure as to whether the mic comes with it as I bought my set on marketplace for the princely sum of £10
With your current set, the reason it resets itself is that your power wires are mismatched. Most of the time you have a red and a yellow power cable, one being power and the other ignition. Swop them around and you will find it holds it's memory.(red to yellow & vise versa)

Thanks for the heads up about this! Well worth following the antics of Guy Martin. Your gf is really lucky to get such an inside look at the project.

Well I didn't expect to have to post this but here we are A local horse rescue centre uses an old golf buggy when showing interested folk around the place but a few weeks ago, a young lad decided to "have a go" and pranged it into a dyke aka stone wall Said buggy is now useless with a destroyed steering rack so moi is trying to source one as cheaply as possible for them. I am therefore, wondering if anyone has an interest in these things and has knowledge about getting a used replacement rack for these guys. A couple of pics to illustrate:

This has reminded me that I have never even got around to wielding the grease gun on the K1500 yet! The grease has been acquired but thats about it.It will happen probably when it's future Lanoguard treatment takes place. The Astro looks like a some Lanoguard may be beneficial too if you don't mind me commenting!
