Shame I don't have a better photo of this one... Better photo? That one perfectly represents the car. And more than thirty years later, I'm pretty sure Mel has still got those rear wheels - I think they were on the Black Death last time I saw it on the road. Think you might be right there, didn't they turn up when we moved the Escort? I do have better photos of that car and several of my other old Capris but all unscanned paper photos

That was over thirty years ago; I looked a lot younger then. And that £25 wasn't for the car, but for the petrol the previous owner had put in it about ten miles before blowing up the original 1.6. I paid £75 for a complete 2.0l out of a mkIV Cortina, heaved it in(it fell out the back of the Cortina estate I borrowed to collect it in which is another story) and a week later four of us set off for 2000miles in France. We didn't even bother changing the oil. And the next year, we did the same journey in mine And that one, thats four of my old Capris, just need pictures of the other ten

Where is nickwheeler He has had a Capri or three eleven….. He has been quiet, I do hope all is well at home for him. Fixed that for you here's the best, my 2.0Si: the fastest a 2.9i: And an utter piece of curse word: And several years earlier my £25 daily driver(at Santa Pod): Things have been OK, but I've been suffering a total lack of motivation. three of those four were also owned at one stage by me

I need to get nickwheeler he welder back, and the hammers and dollies he brought over. I'm not in any rush as I'm hoping to take it straight to the next job*** and not have to keep manhandling it in and out of the car/house. *** but she's a disorganised nightmare with no sense of time, urgency or how to get things done I have no idea who you could possibly be referring to.

Wrong thread by mistake or what made You smile here? Someone putting cheap '80s Weller wheels on a T Bird and thinking nobody would notice if they were painted satin black They look like NASCAR Black Diamond wheels. That they're on a tatty old T Bird makes me smile

Thank you my friend, I have to admit the TR and I have not been friends this week with the busted exhaust and a flooding front carb while the Metro was out on loan to Nick. He and I have worked in the street in front of his house for more than three decades, it just feels normal now

Keep going with the little jobs Rian, every step forward is closer to a finish. Sorry but I booked nickwheeler for today. Nick welded a cracked header pipe while I fitted a service kit to the carbs, of course being Nick while he was under there he noticed that all the bushes in the mount for the gear lever were gone so quickly whittled some on the lathe and fitted them. Still got to set the carbs up but the gearshift is so much better Hijack over

Plans for the TR? In the short term drive it and enjoy it while working through some of its little foibles, longer term a new interior, some bodywork and a respray, I believe you know the colour and then eventually another VVC swap as I really like those engines, should go quite well, but that's a way off yet

The Metro has been my daily for almost two years and Nick had a big hand in putting it together, the plan was to make it look as much like a factory built car as possible and 99% of it is MG Rover parts bin, mostly MGF bits for the mechanical upgrades then a rare leather interior, electric windows etc from higher spec Metros. I absolutely love it but will sadly have to move it on soon to pay for my TR7. Glad you liked it Rian, really good to see the progress on the Rocket since I saw it a few weeks ago. They effort on the little details now will make such a difference later

The TR made it back fine thanks Rian, I'll try to get some more miles on it next weekend but a small repair on the decking at home has turned into a major rebuild so I may not get much time to tinker

Enjoyed the visit and thanks for the coffee, it's a really interesting any good looking build, going to be a great little car when it's done. That was the first trip out in the TR since I bought it in December

No need, see above, someone with slightly less sarcasm came up with answer thanks. Wow, that's the first time I've ever been described like that. It's only taken 51 years And having known Nick for 35 years or so I can say that description of him is wrong

These three share daily duties right now, the Metro has a 160 VVC engine, the MGF is the latest to join the fleet and is a Freestyle VVC and the Rover Cabby is for sale
