I'm planning on taking my 1990 civic VTEC to the ring next year. (Nothing at all to do with turning 40 next month....)
I will probably end up going alone and would like to know what should I budget, where to stay, travel, timescales etc.
I'll not be thrashing around. I just want to tick it off my list and the civic I have is too rare to risk.
Anyone care to share their experience and knowledge?
Cheers Stu

Just for everyone's info, I ordered a couple of things through Popdreamer.
He has the parts lookup at his fingertips, is very knowledgeable and helpful.
He helped me out with a part I thought was no longer stocked. It was delivered nice and quick too.
Cheers, Stu

I know what these are called but for the life of me I cannot remember the correct term. Anyway I have picked up a set of Cobra TC Supaslots for my 1970 beetle project. However some of the wheels have what look to be thick washers pressed into the bolt holes. I assume these are steel and serve to protect the alloy from the bolt. However, one wheel has none, two wheels have 2 and one has just the one missing. My question is, can I get replacements for them? Or do I remove them all and use a certain type of bolt with a swivel washer built in? I really hope the wheels aren't scrap. Not sure if you can see, but below is a picture.

Definately coming to the next one.
The £35 weekend tickets, do they include camping? Do children need a ticket?

Lovely car. I love s1's but i could only afford a s2 a few years back just to scratch the itch.
When it was behaving it was a great characterful car. But it never lasted. I sold it after another niggle and on the test drive for the new owner it went better than ever.
I regret selling it as no RS Turbo is in in my price range anymore.
Stick with it. It'll be worth it.

This. In the family for years. I bought it from my brothers freind, restored it, loved it but life meant it had to go. I always regretted it. Then last august the owner contacted me out of the blue and offered it back at a really good price 3 years after I sold it to him. Everytime i open the garage i cant beleive i got it back. Weirdly it had 16000 miles extra on the clock, was dirty needed a good polish but was exactly the same as the day I sold it. Even down to 2 credit card receipts and roll up cigarette filters in the boot.

I'm looking at playing with/collecting some cool alloys that i can rotate on my cars as the mood takes me.
I am finding it hard to find a source. Advan, volk, Work, SSR, etc.
Are there such dealers trading?
Has anyone got experience of buying from yahoo auction in japan using the buyee (i think) link?
I tried for some Advan SA3A's but had a Buyee message saying auction was closed due to shipping such an item and did i want them to open it. I chickened out at that point!

The Mugens are a little different to other split rims as they just use bolts and no nuts (the barrel is drilled and tapped). Pain in the ass if one snaps. Using a punch and hammer give the head a few good taps, a bit of shock may loosen the threads. Also i cant see how a Mugen MR5 can leak as they are just a two piece wheel only the face comes out and the barrel is one piece. Hi kel, They came out a treat with a 5/16 socket. I wasnt sure if they were threaded into the barrel so was worried there was a crack somewhere. Turns out the crappy 6mm bolt in valve was leaking but as there was a blob of rtv sealant to help seal, the escaping air was travelling under the centre part and escaping where ever it could. Tightened valve and now air tight. While the wheels apart I can polish everything again. Then I'll do the others over winter. Thanks every one for the advice. Its very much appreciated. Stu

5/16" is a shade under 8mm and might get a better grip, are they 12 point bolts as per the above pic, or 12spline, which are slightly different... Cheers I bought a 5/16 on the back of your advice, and with a T bar to equalise pressure they came out a treat! Thanks! Stu

Hi all,
I have some 2 piece split rims. 1 has started leaking from under the centre part where it bolts to the rim are.
I need to split it, clean and reseal.
However the bolts are not available anywhere. Confirmed when i had them refurbished 4 years ago.
The bolt heads are 12 spline bolts with a 8mm head. A good quality socket gets them out. (Well should do at least...)
However one is being stubborn and is starting to round off. Can I use a bolt/stud extractor to save the bolt or will it mess it up?
Wheels are Mugen MR5's in case that helps to see the bolt type.
Can anyone offer any guidance based on experience?
Thanks Stu

Has anyone successfully bought stuff from hahoo.co.jp? I would love too but seems hard? Two chaps I work with do it, or did it I should say. Anything you want to know specifically? Can have a word. He was very confident that I should have done it with a GTR earlier in the year but I was a little sceptical. Its parts mainly. Little odds and ends. My car is a rare model over here and whilst most are the same as UK models some are rarer and I would like to get a bit of a stock put away. Plus the cool tuning parts and interesting details are all in japan!
