Great car. I worked at a couple of Volvo dealers some years back. Maybe those brake discs could be lightly refreshed on a brake lathe with a sympathetic mechanic operating it? John That would be a great re-use if parts. I would love if that was possible. But labour here is so expensive, I can buy 2 new front discs for the same price as I have to pay a mechanic for 1 hour. So I already got new discs waiting on the parts shelf. Hopefully they're decent quality!

Lately it feels like all I'm doing is cleaning and painting, followed by some more cleaning and painting !

It's time for the next part of the quick service and run around all winter.. The corners, and maybe the rear end and a few other spots around the car. Hopefully it won't be hanging up here for too long. And a few shots of the corners. I'm thinking, bushes, brakes and suspension. Not sure how much I can salvage yet.. Time will tell!

One of the plugs for the headlight wiper, was badly corroded. I tried cleaning it, but the cabelshoe just broke.. After some research, I couldn't quite find new parts, so I decided I would try to fix it with what I had available.. The result was curse word, so I cut the wires and sealed the cables in layers of shrinked plastic. Here it's called krypeflex or translated shrinkflex. I removed the hoses for sprinkler fluid as well. So for now, they're just for show.

Got the engine put back together and it fired up on the second turn of the key!
Awesome!
I was really worried, I might have messed it up. And it didn't help, the car had stood since I got it delivered in March. Thats 6 months if I can count right.
Brakes were seized, so it's nice to have some engine power now, to get them moving again.

Good stuff I have a 740 turbodiesel from the same year. Yours is the perfect colour though! Keep up the great work Yeah, the colour is a big part of why I bought it. Would really like a diesel though, could be fun converting it for vegetable oil. Especially considering how uncertain our hobby looks in the future. Got any build thread for yours?

Well cars are no fun when they're just standing around not being used or wrenched on..
Hopefully whatever project you end up with next, will be more fun.

Dammit! Bought 5 gasket kits for the injectors and on the first two attempts the cap split when pushed on the injector... Thought 1 spare kit would do it.but now I don't have enough parts.. So either wrong parts, poor quality or me messing it up.. I've written the seller as well as asking the local Facebook groups for advice. Hopefully I'll find out what's happening. Just broke a third cap double checking it's not me installing them wrong. (Thumb on cap and press hard).

Lol I just had a dream about fixing the Volvo, but in the dream it wasn't an estate I was fixing, but a huge semi. Guess my subconcius thinks this projekt is a little bit bigger than expected ...

Yesterday I got started on the injection, I think it's because the crank case breather was clogged up, it poured into the throttle housing and other injection stuff too.. So far I just started cleaning it up a bit. Which it really needs! Look at all that stuff clogging this little fitting, I had to use a little drill bit to get it all cleared out.

Finaly! i finally worked my way down to this crank case filter, which was in dire need of replacement! It was pretty clogged up, so i cleaned the tube and got the new filter in place. Now i can start putting it back together again ! Really hoping it will start up, never done any real fault finding on an engine before.

So its been a while i can see. Well lots has happened, but most importantly, i now have a garage! So the car is still shaking when driving 90 kmh or above, in my hunt for a good reason i had the propellor shaft sent for a refurb. forgot to take a picture of the shaft refurbed, so have a look at a dirty one: This did not solve the issue, so i bid the bullet and sent it off to a mechanich, who had it checked, and he believes the tyres are oval and everything else looks fine. I find this a bit odd since the tyres are new, but its a good reason to get some new wheels. i had a look at some japan racing jr6, but they wont be in stock in 7x15 et35 until december this year. Guess ill have to wait a bit. who know, maybe i change taste before then too. I'm hoping it will look sweet with some dish and some meaty 205/55 r15 tyres! So off we were on a 10 day / 1800km road trip all arround denmark driving with a speed no more than 90 kmh. Awesome trip where among many other things, i had the countrys biggest "Tartelet" with 750 grams of stuffing or gravy or whatever its called in english. So the car has been shaking when braking. new discs and everything is fine for 2-3000 km.. After 4 sets of discs, i wanted to try something new. So i bought me some quite expensive TA technics discs and consulted with the local facebook group. The group thought i might be tightening the discs too much (which i definetly did). To my luck, i got a tourqe wrench for christmas this year, so with new fancy discs torqued up to 80 nm i now have hope that the issue is resolved (fingers crossed).

Well... This turned out to be a lot more work than expected.. I've never taken a car this much apart, it's kinda terrifying. But I've labeled everything and hopefully won't mess it's up too much.. Got a lot of little bits of engine room wire wheeled and painted.
