When I was a kid my Dad picked me up from school and on the way home stopped by the petrol station. While filling up a very nice beetle rolls up to the compressor. A woman gets out and opens up the engine over with the tyre inflator in hand. She walks over to my Dad and asks where the air goes. In the tyres my Dad replies, no for the engine she says. Turns out some prankster she works with convinced her to top up her air cooled engine at the garage.
I used to work at a scrapyard during school and college hols. The amount of people that try to fit parts from other cars that aren't from their model or even make was shocking. Also turning up with no tools, not because they forgot, but that they never owned any. Once had a guy ask for an alternator for a red car. I was draining petrol from a car once and a bloke stood next to me smoking,he didn't believe petrol was flammable.

What's going to happen to the old gauges? I'll be reusing the water temp and oil pressure gauges but the rest will be for sale...... speedo, tacho, fuel and ammeter So how much would you want for them? My Dad would like to change the ones he has in his kit car.

I have the opertunity of getting a mini. But it's been off the road since 1997 and there fore untaxed as stated on the DVLA website but not sorn. A couple of things bother me, 1 will I be liable for the tax? 2 it has the old style log book with the last change of keeper in 1999 and there is some confusion wether it's been scrapped as far as DVLA are concerned. The bloke that has it is known to me for a long time and isn't dodgy but also isn't the registered keeper. He bought it a long time ago as he was buying and selling minis and parts etc in the late 90s early 00 and this is one that was just laying around. Is it worth the paper chase? And can I find out if it's scrapped?

I kept an open mind when watched it this morning. Some of it was good and some not so good,a bit like the old series. I can't help but feel that some want it to fail. But it right that Evans seemed to mimic clarkson, but I guess that's down to the script writers. Will Chris Harris be on the main show instead of extra gear? He seems to have more skill I think, and would be better on the main show. As for extra gear itself....hmm. Not so much as what's in it but more of why does it exist.

I'm having a clear out of some bits and bobs over the next few weeks, which is why I'm selling this. It's a genuine Austin Rover book that was issued to the dealers. It's far from perfect condition but is perfectly readable and has all the knowledge you need to keep your metro on the road. It was printed in 1986 and covers both mk1 and mk2 models. It's a bit more in depth than a Haynes manual. I've never seen another but not sure how rare they are. £10 plus p&p. Or you could pick up in person.

My wife's from Latvia. I always have a look on ss.lv. Be careful though, some cars don't always have the documents. Nearly got a mk2 escort for peanuts but had no docs. Every time we go there I want to bring some car back. Saw an old fella driving a mk1 golf, mint as well. But he wouldn't sell.

I have a VHS tape somewhere all about the mondeo. It was on the front of Autocar mag in 93. I also remember Wards of Corby having a yellow one.

No, hammer wielding wife is now an ex wife -not in the ex parrot context- and the blue Land Rover belongs to new girlfriend, who is somewhat less nuts, and has been known to dive in and get her hands dirty with her cars. She's a keeper!

I have some Rover Mini Cooper lamps that look like those that you posted up. Not sure if they are Lucas but they look a lot like those in the pic.
