Not disagreeing with you on that, it says it plainly, but a few months ago, I was on a speed awareness course, Ooops, and I asked the very same question, and was quoted the 60mph motorway bit It depends what size van your talking about. Car derived and small vans can do 70, but 3.5t transits, ducattos, ect are limited to 60. The actual cut-off point is 2.0 tonnes. It can get confusing to people as to what unladen and laden weights mean. A camper/motorhome can do 70 on the motorway, but a transit with a bed slung in the back cannot.

Alot of engines such as the redtop, zetec, ect now come with a "scene tax" which has pushed prices up. Putting an engine from another make into your car is becoming more popular as you get more bang for your buck.
You can find alot of family saloons with 200ish hp for cheap if your willing to think outside the box.

Bridgestone have a good stiff sidewall, Contis grip well but will blow out the sidewall very easily.

A HE221 is a bit overkill for what your trying to do, it will lag alot on a 1.4l engine. Which engine is it getting fitted to?

That does look to be the case doesn't it... The 15x6.0 off an older Ducato is looking like the best option - annoyingly, the ET68 15x6.0 is too wide to fit at the back, and is going to be fag paper clearance at the front. Still, these are looking like the best option. Current thinking is that I will need to either get some spacers to clear at the front / rear, or have the rims 'un-banded', and convert them to 16x5.0 or 16x5.5. Not sure which of those is preferable! I guess some hubcentric 20mm spacers on the back and ~10mm on the front should be reeeeasonably legit? I've never run spacers on a vehicle before, but it does definitely seem to be a 'thing'. Anyone got any advice on whether a cut & shut to make the wheels narrower or a set of spacers is a more sensible option? Don't have any practical experience with either of these options, so any advice is very welcome! The vivaro/traffic has 15x6.0 ET50 if that's any use? If you need to go custom a set of Weller wheels would be your best bet.

Ok its been a long time but i finally got around to trying to sort this out as the van was due on the road this month. As you know I fitted the new O rings and no joy, I did try having a quick go with easy start and again nothing, It almost fired but i did not wan to use to much easy start. I left it for a month so last week my friend called over with his reader etc and cleaned out a few faults on the system and guess what ? again no joy starting it, it was spinning over well but would not fire. So i got some clutch and brake cleaner next day, had the wife to squirt it in the intake as I turned it over and Hey Presto it fired into life... as it did this before i was worried when I switched it of it would not do it again. So i stopped it and it fired again, left it five mins and again fired, left it 3 hours and again fired up...then the big one left it over night came out on a cold morning and once again it fired first time. I took it out for a run today and its running perfect in fact better than ever. I will get my friend back to test it again in the future but at the moment its working perfectly. I'm not sure what actually fixed it, the O rings or the clearing of the ECU !! but I'm not complaining. That's good news, I'll bet the O rings fixed it but you still had air trapped in the system preventing it starting. Did you notice the difference between easy start and brake cleaner? Much softer on the engine internals...

If they are real and not copy's they are worth half as much as the car, used to be quite a common wheel on old Mercs back in the 90's.

Tanx guys..as i said its fully rebuilt...it was driven to my mates yard then stripped 10 years ago...forgotten where a few things go, mostly vacuum pipes..and the haynes manual doesnt show diagrams of these I've studied the wiring diagrams in the manuals but i found some wires are not even in the diagrams... Is it just the Haynes manual your working from? They are not the best for wiring.

I would advise you get someone else to wire it up for you, otherwise you run the risk of burning things out. I would describe my own electronics skills as very basic, but that doesn't stop me from trying to improve them. I've been fighting 12V DC electronics all day today myself because I want to make something that I can't quite get my head around yet, so I'll keep experimenting until it works. Yes, it's very frustrating at times and I run the risk of burning the house down, but I'm sure that a) the feeling of accomplishment when finished will be worth the struggle and b) doing this will help me do more complicated electronics projects in the future. Trying to improve your skills is one thing, frying an expensive ECU or worse still causing a fire is another. I'm all for encouraging people to learn how to do new things, but start with basics and work up from there. Jumping in at the deep end with something that has the potential to cause big problems if done incorrectly is not a good starting point.

Have a look on passion ford website, someone listed all the ecu pins and wiring, might help? Yeah..tanx mate..I've been Googling for days now but cant find any real answers....I read agood while that theres only a handful of wires needed to get it to run...I've rebuilt the engine and box but wiring is wizardry to me....the manuals just confuse me...sorry for being lazy..!! It is only around 4 wires to get it to run, BUT if you cant read a diagram your going to struggle. I would advise you get someone else to wire it up for you, otherwise you run the risk of burning things out.

You have to ask yourself if you and the wife will be happy to spend 23 hours in a small hatchback? I certainly wouldn't be.
My advice is to buy whichever 530d, A6 avant, or E320cdi wagon fits your budget.

In that case I'd start at the fuse and work your way backwards along the circuit until you find the fault. It's probably a corroded connection somewhere.
