Took delivery this evening, exhaust fixed! went and put 20ltrs fuel in, drives nice! Really icy out my way but it feels quite nippy! Strange driving a RHD with gears in the traditional layout, I've been used to left hikers and a dog-leg 1st gear! One pic: Last time I use that image hoster, sorry for such a large pic!!

as photobucket no longer works i tried another hosting site.. wont be using it again!
all sounds hunky-dory so far, got to see it briefly in daylight today as i was walking the dog and he stopped in it on his way to the unit to do the exhaust. i clocked some bubbling where the bottom of the o/s rear window meets the body, has some paint brushed on it, so ill have to keep an eye on it. More info when i get my grubby mits on it!

Some of you may have seen my question thread the other day wether this was worth going for, I wanted to know what to look out for when looking at this. I went over yesterday after work, unfortunately the weather wasn't on my side, it got dark and snow decided to try and put me off! Never really a great idea to look at a car in the dark, especially as I live in the country, although fortunately the friend that is selling lives in a new part of the village where his car park has one small marker light. However, determined, I took my workshop light, brushed off the snow and was taken for a spin round in it before having a good look and browse through the paperwork. All was in order, my mate acquired it as another loan car for his business cheap as it had a misfire on cyl3, so took it off the owner for the price of the diagnostics, stripped it down and sorted out the suspect valve. It had £660 spent on its last mot with clutch cable, belts, service etc (ill get the full list up soon) and for this year it had front bottom suspension replaced both sides on the front. I knocked him down to £500 and a deal was struck!! Now since my Ami8 was written off 2 months ago if been very limited on what shifts I could do at work as I have to push bike the commute, my friend was aware of this, hence he offered it to me and knowing I was struggling to earn £300pm told me I could even pay a bit now, use it to work more hours and pay the rest next month!! So with a fresh mot yesterday, he brought it the 50miles back from work for me to look at and the exhaust decided to start leaking slightly! He's a good lad and said he'd take it back to sort out and it'll be mine Monday night!! I'm on a roll!! So, a pic would be nice yeah? Now, apologies for this, it was dark and snowy, I've had to edit it slightly to bring up the pic!!

i've had people approach me before, some polite, some not so. One bloke offered me £120 for my old van 2 weeks after i paid a little over £1800, his attitude was awful, he actually said to me 'what will you take for that chicken shed?' after my (understandable) refusal at his offer, and when i replied that i'd always wanted one, had only just bought it and had no plans to get rid of, he got worse! some people eh? On the other end of the scale, one lady (along with her quite tidy early 20's daughter) told me she was in love, hugged it and had taken a picture with it to frame at home! Unfortunatly i never did get her (or her daughters) number when it left my posession

Corolla suit best IMHO. Just curious.. you say this is a '83? I'm confused by the reg plate layout, my old van was an imported '69/70 with an age related plate which read CAU 101H, yours also has an H at the end..? am i being thick or..?

still car hunting, been offered an s-reg ('98?) vw polo. will have full mot, alloys, not sure on tax yet or even colour as I'm not seeing it 'til the weekend. i know the seller well as he is a family friend, and ive seen his work and can vouch he is good and honest. Reason I'm posting now is I'm used to driving 2cvs and other a-series citroens so i know what to looks for on them. 'normal' cars are a different matter. so, for around £600, you can buy them on fleabay, but as always you cant see everything, so what do i look for?
Thanks in advance! Chris

Hi guys and girls! read the first 5/6 pages and thought i'd pop into the shed to dig out the lathe i have. This was given to me by my dad when we all moved out of the family home last year. He had it on permanent loan from my godfather when he decided he wanted to have a play with one. My godfather never claimed it back when offered to him, hence i acquired it! I know not of it's history, or whether it was a budget hobby lathe or supposed to be the dogs nuts of the small milling world. If anyone could share some light, that'd be great! Any way enough waffling, pic time! I know how we all like pictures! This is my pile of shed based stuff, which is now stored at my girlfriends after the move.. messy i know, but it needed a home and ive not emptied the shed to tidy it properly! Spare 2cv engines.. yes there is two in there! I'm attempting to build suspense here before you see little beasty.. Original box- Instruction manual- No idea what some of these are for! few other bits, i believe the green bracket bolts on to it, with the long pole and is some sort of up right thingy..? I think I've held the suspense for long enough! it needs a proper belt- OK OK, I'll let you see the whole machine! As you can see, its not exactly big.. That's a 4 inch nail in front of it! Most recently used as a make-shift bench grinder, it still works like a dream! if only i knew how to use it! I may have missed this during the thread, but like i said, I've only got up to about page 5 so far.. Obviously i can't do anything massive on it, but if i had, say a 'squared' piece of wood to start with, whats the method to round it off to start working with it? cheers, Chris

As soon as i saw the first pics i was thinking to myself, 'get it running, hoover the seats, clean the window and drive!' cover the paint in lacquer to preserve the patina and enjoy it! its perfect!

Some good ideas here, beetle like I say has been done In a Dyane anyway, land rover 90 has been done with a 2cv van but I like the idea, mr2 sounds dangerous and is top of my list..

Right, it's stupid o'clock in the morning and I can't sleep because my brain is working overtime on build ideas. I've been scribbling ideas down on a note pad along with sketches on what I could do with a Citroen 2cv I have stripped in a friends yard. I prob should worry AFTER I've paid for it and got it home but I can't, I've toyed with 4x4 (but ill have that in my daily) or mounting the power plant in the back. Then I figured why not see if I can find a donor to plonk the shell onto?
So, I need ideas! The wheelbase required is 2.40m/94.5in. I've found a few odds and sods thanks to a quick google search, anything spring to your clever minds? Cheers, Chris
