these break well for the engine and box.
being a ford product they do like to rust, sills and rear subframes, just helped to change both rear arms on one, subframe had been patched for MOT.

seeing as you have an engine out already, and its not completely shat itself, why not stick a headgasket on it?

I was going to say I've used the starrett ones a friend has, and bosch, definitely a marked difference in quality and concentricity over the own brand stuff like Erbauer.

3 hours worth of insurance is about £20 or so, book an MOT, check the tyres and lights drive it over there.
well worth giving the car a decent run to get it up to temperature, burn off the rust on the brakes, clean the car through.
having tax or MOT test has no bearing whatsoever on insurance, PC plod cares not one jot if you don't have the former two, the latter though they take a very dim view of.

I feel with You. I am "only" 6'3" and I know I can't drive a classic mini properly, but mainly because of my shoe size. must ask my 6'8" friend with size 15"s how he fitted in a mini and MX5 at "only" 6 foot I have sat briefly in an MX5 and pondered the same, just didnt feel comfortable, loved my AX first car though!

black nitrile gloves which seem to have become fashionable with mechanics Lol, I wasn't going to say anything but I'm pretty sure you can categorise people's line of work by the colour of their gloves e.g. black = mechanics and YouTube, blue = dentists and doctors, green = science, purple = bio etc etc what about Orange

Why not have a crack at repairing yourself?
If the slip rings are particularly worn as mentioned in the video, the same channel has a video on changing that also.

have you checked if your car/airbag is one of the recalled ones? might get a shiny freebie! What recall would that be ?? Nigel millions of Takata airbags have been recalled across a number of manufacturers.

Did it actually do a regen as most wont with an egr fault, they use egr to regulate exhaust temps.
Does it have 5th injector in the exhaust?

Theres plenty of TU stuff about, just not standard ! I don't know specific details of rhe tu myself, only mild dabblings, more of an XU man but been involved with some nice builds.
How wide are the rods? I presume they are a bushed type and crank located or are they piston located?

They have all the matrix signs lite up saying speed limit reduced for air quality 🤷🏻♂️ same past Newport in south wales, relatively simple physics, but in essence the faster you drive the harder the engine works and the more pollutants its pumping out. fuel is just too expensive to do 70+ everywhere these days anyway so this really doesn't bother me in the slightest.

without an ever so slightly larger radius on the end of that crush tube I can see 2 things happening, the tube getting jammed on the spigot, and also the bush being able to move up and down the tube as its not being clamped against the body.
