Great project and it's inspired me to dig out my drum kit, which I've owned for 29 years and spruce it up. and it appears from the location of the drum kit that you are using your shelter in place instructions to genuinely annoy your neighbours!

I think you are going to want more than one - I used to do paddles five or six - as it soaked in you got a lovely rich sheen but not a shine. It will soak in a bit too.

The Thomas flyer drove from NY to Paris. Thomas' friend Bertie drove across Sodor.

It does have a face only a mother could love - which is awesome as a have a huge soft spot for quirky cars. I do wonder though whether the inspiration is not a Roller but a Siata Spring? Seems a more logical connection to my mind and my eyes.

What a great project! 99% sure the wood is Ash. If you google it you find that Fender used various woods but mostly alder and ash. That is not an alder grain and a bit smooth to be oak.

that is an impressive link - well done! (and somehow I suspect Kevin Bacon will similarly emerge (I'll get my coat)) A slightly less impressive jump but two cars that at linked and probably couldn't be further apart. It's a Ford! It's a GT! But it's a North American Escort.

was chatting about this with a friend who is absolutely not into cars - she recalled polishing the trim on her aunt's 57 Bel Air as a child. (apparently the car was only ever driven in summer) Aunt died and left the car to my friend's father. As a young adult (so 40 years or so ago) she asked her father what had happened to the car - Father replied, ' oh a guy at work wanted it so I sold it to him for $50' My friend's father has been dead for some time now but I am not clear she has yet forgiven him.

Hadn't really thought about the one that showed up the day after I bought. I have always had a soft spot for Isuzu Troopers. A few years ago we lived in Florida. I had spent quite a bit of time researching every car for sale in the state (as one does) only to land on a Passat. 24 hours later the Isuzu dealer put up all his new stock at 1/3 off.

The 'what car did you really want as a teenager' got me thinking about the one that got away. (stories are even better) I have 2. In the early 90's in our Classic Auto trader Magazine a 1956 Lagonda Tickford Coupe showed up for $2500 CDN. (Probably about 1200 pounds) The price was low because it had a Volvo engine (my idea of car heaven, a classic with a modern engine). Unfortunately the car had been sold. 24 hours later the new owner called and tried to sell it to my for $5000. I was having no part of that. 12 years later I tried to locate the car again and did, the owner said the engine had caught fire and been scrapped. Pushing him as to whether it was truly scrapped he sheepishly told me that after the fire they had put it in a demolition derby. This is the saloon The second was just two years ago when, for literally months a 1986 Skoda appeared on Kijiji (our local classified site) Over time the price dropped, finally to $1600 CDN. The car had 8600 original kilometers and even came with a parts car. I tried to contact the seller, and did, but couldn't quite organize a meetup. Interestingly about 6 months later the car showed up at a cruise night and I had the chance to meet the new owner who had had to do the brakes only to get it licensed and running, 6 months later it was on Kijiji again, this time for $16,000. I watched the price drop to about 10k and then it disappeared. It would have been just fun. (I did test drive one in the 90's as a daily - $750 - should have bought it also - a very quirky car!

sometimes Barris Kitschy works - especially when the TV itself demands it. Like the Muensters

The first car that I ever truly fell in love with was an Iris Blue Bugeye Sprite. It was at a used car dealer in my home town - and being a Sprite I could open the door and sit in it. It had a hardtop and I rode my bike 10 miles to ask the dealer what he wanted for it $350.00 though it could have been $35,000 for all the money I had. But if I could go back in time. The other was a 69-70 Boss 302. Still if I won the lottery (buy a ticket!) this would still be one of the very few American cars on my list

Shelves and especially higher shelves are an awesome solution! However make them solid and put on a lip. I know a number of people who have dented body panels by a shelf collapse

quick report - we brought it in, they replaced a plug and plug wire (having just replaced the set) I picked up the car na dsure enough 40 minutes later. brought it back, they replaced the coil pack and we are very cautiously optimistic it works again.

I’ve pumped up the tyres and they have stayed up. It was left with the handbrake off but so far is resisting all efforts to push it out of the garage. Think I’m going to have to resort to asking a mate with a recovery truck to come round and winch it out of the garage. Might try and borrow some ‘skids’ to put under the wheels to aid movement, rather than just drag the locked up wheels. These cars are remarkably light -a couple of people could "bounce" it over, OR, get some melamine faced board (IKEA shelves sort of stuff) jack up the car and slide two boards under - face to face and the one will slide on the other.
