I've broken all the things!
Well, drivetrain related things anyways.
My rear axle stripped the gear, so I removed the driveshaft so I could at least knock about fwd.
This put more torque through the front end that it liked and the front driveshaft came spectaculary apart.
So i've got a little spendy and bought the metal axle kit direct from WPL.
This looks to be a pretty decent upgrade, everything axle related is now metal and the steering uses UJs instead of cups, so should be much smoother.
I'll let you know how I get on in 2-3 weeks time when it arrives.
If this doesnt fix the 'toy grade' issues i'm having, it can go on the shelf and i'll look at an Axial UMG10
I'm also in no way whatsover looking at lipo batteries, related chargers, the flysky gt3c and a hobbywing 1080 esc

It's a mini Mini Scamp update. I paid very little for the smaller steering wheel, the cover was torn and it looked like it had been dipped in cement at some point. I decided a paracord wrap would be the order of the day. 100ft of the finest 3mm, 7 cord bright orange was ordered and it began. It was at this point I realised you really need to be yanking on it to get it real tight. It's also a chore passing said 100ft of cord through the wheel with every wrap. My fingers are hurting badly at this point. Still, I carried on, took me probably an hour and a half. You cant let go in the time as it would all go loose And wrapped I then cut small lengths of paracord and glued them in the gaps whilst pulling tight. This one then covered with the original trim pieces. And that's that! Never done this before, I can't tell you if it will stay on etc, but I cant see why it wouldn't. I hope it doesnt get dirty either, but I guess only time will tell

Anything with this written on it Here, i've fixed the image for you I imagine it's what you meant, what with them being a quarter of the price and you can actually replace them at that moment without having to wait 2 weeks for the man in the van to come round and argue the point you shouldn't have been using it 'like that'

I have, intact the guy that told me of folk racing is a banger racer. My point is not to replace banger racing but to provide an alternative. But other than the fact they can sell anyones car off randomly, it appears to be exactly the same...

Have you been to a banger track and watched the actual racing?
I'm not talking the bangers classes
There's a huge amount of non/minimal contact races that look just the same as folk racing.
I often make cars for the 1600cc fwd class and they last 2-3 seasons and cost about £500
There's under 2000cc rwd, unlimited rwd, microbangers, junior bangers, lady bangers etc and these are all non contact (you can force your line, that's all)

They have actual racing at banger meets. Cars can last for several seasons.
It seems pretty much the same to me, contact is allowed to get your line etc but not to destroy the vehicles.

Seems to be banger racing just as we have over here.
Except for the selling the car bit, which is superb!

Halfords have just updated their Advanced socket sets, so you can get the older ones for silly cheap money at the moment.
Just don't look at the newer sets, as you'll leave with one of them instead...

I've always wondered this. Technically it should be IVAd but who's to know. When you MOT it its just a kit car on Q still so who's going to object? How would anyone know you've altered it from when it was originally registered? I have a Mini Scamp, People basically built them how they wanted them, you could have a 6 wheeled one, or have the chassis cut in half and have a weird short 2 seater thing. So yeah, no one would ever know. I was just under the impression that as soon as it was registered, that was that! That's the vehicle and spec you had. Like you say, no one would know, but...

I emailed Rightmove in the past as they have filters for pretty much everything, but not a garage.
They seemed to care not a jot
Sad times!

Nothing much has been happening on the SM-X front, just generally being pressed into daily duties. I had to drive though a deep flood the other week. This was a bad idea. First, the front numberplate fell off, then the bearing for the aircon belt tensioner failed as did the passenger side wheel bearing. Floods ain't fun ladies! Bearing was duly changed. This is a common to every single Honda ever made part, and as such was pence. The old bearing fell to bits as it was removed and was very dry inside, so it was its time! She's whisper quiet again now. The air-con never worked, gas has long since escaped, so I just removed the belt as an easy fix for the whirring tensioner. I'd noticed now it's getting colder that the car was steaming up badly in the mornings. On some occasions the window was actually frozen on the inside. Hmmm, lent down and felt the carpet; yup; wet through. A quick search on the ever helpful FB group pointed me towards the bonnet hinges as the culprit. so off came the bonnet and the scuttle The hinges have a fair whack of sealant around them. It's that non flexible seam sealer they loved to use in this era and as you can imagine it had cracked and lifted. It was just a case of cleaning it all up, painting the area then putting the hinges back with a good dose of PU sealant. You can see in this pic they've cleverly left a random hole under the centre of the bonnet hinge mount and also - this is my favorite - i've arrowed a hole formed at the joint of 4 panels that they just decided a blob of sealant would surfice in covering. This hole drops directly behind the dash. Clever! So, now I have a dry floor and lovely bearings. Oh, the brake caliper sliders were seized solid on that side as well, so hopefully i'll get a few more mpg now!

Dash is now complete. Except for the fact I have to take it out again to remake the side panels at each end. Ones that actually cover that whole area and paint them black

Little bit of mudding today. Broke the rear axle, so she was dragging herself round like a limp dog. Best order some metal parts now 👌

The speedo was unavoidable really.
I'm not sure you can get an led universal one anyways, but I also wanted it to be gps ready for the engine swap.
Bear in mind once the film is off the dash it will be black, so hopefully that will tone it down a bit

My see through smoke black perspex arrived from Trent PlasticsCan't fault the service and the price. So I ignored the front end of the car and slapped her in place, marked the bolt holes and also sussed out where I wanted the speedo. Look at that! That's all you'll see on the dash when the car is off. Very clean looking, I like it. I got the Aldi sharpie ripoff out and started to mark where I can and can't see when sat down. Don't want a repeat of the mk1 dash Once I was happy, I marked it out again on the rear and cut through the protective film in the places needed. Out came the PU sealant and it was applied to the gauges and warning lights I placed the dash on a flat surface (the bonnet) and carefully placed the items where needed, then applied a bit of weight and walked away for the night. I'll go back in the garage later to check they're stuck and also apply more sealant to stop any light leaks around the edges. Next up is to mask the back of the gauges/lights and spray the whole thing in matt black. This will stop you seeing through the dash except where the gauges/lights are. Never done anything like this before and I can't say i've seen it done either, so it's pure hope that it will work. I guess we'll know in a day or so

Start the new year with a bit of sketchiness Fired up the plasterboard drill, set on 160mm or around 6.3 inches for you old folk. Nothing beats 2 blades spinning and a steel bar chewing through metal. Got there in the end, had to let it skim the metal as any pressure caused it to snatch, which isnt fun at all Chucked the first coat of colour on as well, getting there now
