Following on from the R/C advice thread my WPL B-36K has arrived. Bit of basic background, the B-36K is the kit version of the Ural-4320 KUNG. KUNG is the English transcription of the Cyrillic initialism КУНГ for Russian: кузов унифицированный нулевого (нормального) габарита (unified body of zero [standard] dimension). The KUNG is a Soviet then Russian term for a standardized military vehicle module/trailer system. Basically a workshop/radio body. So, so far, what have we got? At the moment all I have is the kit, no radio gear although I do have the kit gearbox and motor and steering servo as well as the headlight LED's which I suspect are going to be 'white' white, so will need swapping. Lets see the, what does that £40 get you so far? (It is available as RTR for similar money, I just went for the kit as I want to build it to my spec as I go) Box. Not very exciting. My, that is a lot of parts. More than I was expecting. Cab bare bones. Very crisp detail on the parts. I believe the kit is 3D printed too so this is very nice. Door card detail Ribbing to the floor of the KUNG interior. This is very nice, seeing as it's not something you would ever notice or see, I know the body has opening doors but it's really well detailed. Instrument panel and pedals, again, nice detail for an RC kit! Passenger side of dash with detail mouldings, not sure what they are meant to be as the dash doesn't seem to be too true to prototype but it's nice that they have incorporated some detail there! I have yet to open any bags, as I don't want to lose anything, but I would like to start building the running gear up shortly, so watch this space!

Damn you Rich!!! You've made me buy the Gaz Something i'm clearly upset about... I can see by our conversation this morning you are devastated at the prospect, and are dreading the moment it turns up on your doorstep. I’ll be interested in seeing your (most begrudgingly miserable I’m sure) build I’m a bad influence

rich I don't know if you've seen this, it's quite a beast. I was looking it the Gaz, but I want the Landy. I've got quite a bit of tat in my garage and loft, when I get some time I'll have a rake about to see what I can sell to fund it. 5 kids, 1 grandchild and Christmas on the way funds are a bit tight.

That's cool, not a fan of the wheels but it's a good build! Started building the axles and suspension but ran into issues with the prop shafts, I think I have some mismatched pats in the kit so I have just ordered the upgraded metal shafts instead. Few pics, last few are a bit jumbled up.

2 speed gearbox arrived. I had no idea what range this provided but I wanted to get one due to the motor and gears being bigger. Suffice to say it does normal and then slower speeds which is nice. Comparison in size. I'm still at a stall point on the chassis now due to the prop shafts but I may start doing the bodywork in anticipation. Will see.

The upgrades on the WPL’s make a huge difference. I ended up changing almost everything on my c24

I've been looking at banggood for the stuff I want. It's all cheap enough, just I'd never heard of it till I started looking at kits and upgrades. Wondered if it was reliable.

I can't say i've used them but they have been around for long enough. I'd certainly heard of them a long time ago, so it isn't some pop-up fly by night jobbie.
