Oooh that's excellent! Inspired by this and watching a few Youtube vids I've just ordered the C44KM FJ45 trayback. Can't wait for it to arrive and get building Excellent! The kit quality has increased so much as of late, WPL have realised I think their target market isn’t actually kids so have stepped up the game so to speak. Did you get it straight from their web store or somewhere else? If you need spares or upgrades they list most of it on their store, a lot of parts are free as well, you just pay shipping, which is a cracking idea if you lost or broke your door mirrors or something. Can’t fault them for their customer service really! Banggood on special offer. I've only bought the basic kit as I get my head round what's the best controller and who the best supplier is, though as you say the WPL site looks pretty good and they seem like a bunch of enthusiasts! I was wary of buying a kit before with most reviews saying they needed upgrading instantly with the metal gears etc, but the kit comes with that as standard. After watching some vids I now want the winch and some bigger tyres before I've even got it....

Yea, WPL have stopped directly selling the kits without metal parts now, weather the plastic kits will eventually dry up through eBay and banggood will be something to be seen. If I’d have known they would release the B36KM I would have waited. Would have saved me a lot of pain-in-the-bottom time. Still, I know for next time!

It's usually the first purchase where you learn heaps and then know what to do and buy next time round. No idea on how long mines going to take to arrive, but I'm already beginning to think of all the different variants I want to build! So tempted to buy another kit already....

I still haven't got one. ☹️ Why not?! Anyway, my Brother has a C24 that we build up loosely before Christmas that he's been using to see how it performs, basically all stock bar the props at the moment on a small hobby ESC and it's been great. Not many pics though as he has just been driving it about. Anywho. I had a little tyre trouble, so I got the 'staff' to take the wheel off for inspection. (tyre kept demounting, the WPL soft tyres have a habit of it so a few drops of glue to keep them on works wonders. All back together now.. And this evening I finished the artillery piece for the tractor to tow. Looks good!

rich the in house accountant deems other stuff more important at the minute. Any hoo, the boy got a nitro powered FTX Torro RC car off Santa. So I've been roped in as pit crew till he understands the workings and running in procedure. I'll no doubt be tuning it once it's run in. Only problem there is it's out of action as he binned it and smashed the top and bottom front suspension mounting plates. Waiting on new parts in the post. Your truck is looking most superb, I must say. 😃

Despite its total lack of engine it went really well. It was just such a palaver towards the end of my ownership as it was pretty vintage really. Parts were starting to get hard to get and I got bored of having to lug around a load of spares. I swapped it with a guy I work with (who has basically been restoring it) for a mad brushless turbo nutter mental sandrail thing, until I realised I just wasn’t all that interested in going fast on a large scale anymore with RC stuff.

So, with the Ural basically complete, I started on the next one. Like I haven't got enough to do. This was a present from a friend as I got him the same JJRC for Christmas and he was a bit stumped for a return gift this year so bought me one back. (we usually do gifts for each other's railways and such, low budget fun things usually) So it's a JJRC Q60 RTR 6WD truck. Mechanically the same or similar to the WPL trucks, except being RTR is has non-proportional throttle and steering, and also has actual differentials which is neat. It's a rough copy of a ZIS 150 cab on a fantasy 6WD chassis. (the ZIS 151 was 6WD but had twin rear wheels and the suspension was different) First thing was to strip the guff electronics and steering mech (after making sure it went forwards and backwards) I swapped the rear suspension for the WPL B36 balance cart, as this is more prototypical and also would allow for easier re-positioning of the axle set increasing the wheelbase slightly. Moved the fuel tanks to the right places.. And started some CAD.. CAD transferred to steel.. And that's where that is for now. Can you see what i'm aiming for with it yet?

I'm loving the diorama (is that the right word/spelling) I can't help thinking you need a backdrop for your bench, and some to-scale astro-turf or similar to complete the effect.

I’ve been looking into it. I’d like to build a garage ‘unit’ to pose pics, it’s just storing it is the problem. I know a lot of the builders on Instagram have got some cracking scale garages they use and occasionally you can easily be fooled into thinking the truck is real!

I've just bought the JJRC one myself after it being in my watch list for 12 months, I may have some questions about ripping out the standard rc gear and replacing it with proper stuff. What are the best upgrades to go for?

I've just bought the JJRC one myself after it being in my watch list for 12 months, I may have some questions about ripping out the standard rc gear and replacing it with proper stuff. What are the best upgrades to go for? Any of the ‘WPL’ servos on eBay should fit the servo tray and a little fettling should see it connected to the steering rod. Electronics wise it’s a big old question of what you want to do with it. If you want speed, you can use pretty much any brushed ESC and you can go mad on motor upgrades, etc, but if you want to do it on the ‘cheap’ for some crawling fun you can leave the stock motor, shafts and diffs and fit the WPL sound receiver/transmitter control kit I’m using and it won’t be a speed daemon but it won’t kill all the drivetrain on the first run. It will then give you the option in future to easily fit more lights, the 2 speed gearbox, winch, etc so it gives a bit of expandability too. WPL have just released a new version of the sound kits on their web store so that’s where I would recommend buying that if that’s the route you go down, they are cheap enough.

I'm gonna have to have a good look at the store, cant wait for it to come now WPL don’t sell the V2 sound card any more direct, they have been superseded with the new V3 which is annoying as I bought a diesel V2 for the Ural a few days before V3 was released. You can get a V3 here www.wpl-rc.com/collections/upgrades/products/sound-system-v3Or you can find the V2 on eBay still, but I’d be going with the newest version (not that there is anything wrong with the V2)

Cool thank you very much, just one last question, says it doesn't work with 6v 700mah yellow battery which is what mine is, are you running a different one?

Yea, got a cheapish 2S 2000mAh ‘blue’ battery from eBay, performance is good but you can run a 3S on these if you want more oomph, a 2S is enough though. That yellow battery is Ni-Cad or Nmh I think.
