In 1993 my mate swapped a Metro for a '59 100E that had been in a garage since it ran its big-ends. In 1976.
It was only 45 miles, but after sweeping the dust off the windows with a t-shirt and making sure the lights worked we drove it all the way home in the dark, crankshaft knocking its gonads off, with a tax disc in the window reading '28.2.77'.
He's still got it, never been repainted though now it's rocking a 1760cc pre-Crossflow.
Enjoy the roadtrip, and don't forget the pics!!! ;D

I'll add your name to the list right now, I'll email the organisers with final stand numbers this weekend, and either post the passes out or hand 'em out on the day depending how quickly they arrive. They were branded as Interceptor rims in the UK from memory. Quite popular in the early 90's.

This... ...had this under the bonnet. Spotted at Walsall Arboretum classic car show last summer. Isuzu 1700TD, XE bellhousing conversion and Ford Type 9 box. A tight squeeze, but can be done. Had a chat with the owner/builder who reckoned it would sit at 85 all day long and still do 50+mpg.

I was, but the Benz Mafia stand's suddenly gone from two cars to about eight.
It's easy enough to organise, I did last year's Mids stand.....just start a thread, book a stand for how ever many cars you get and the passes will be posted to you, it's just a matter of handing them out over the weekend to campers and on Sunday morning for daytrippers. Simples.

Sakura stuff was 'pile it high...sell it cheap' gear commonly sold on Sunday market stalls in the late 70's/early 80's, output was something like 2 watts and no FM meant the sound quality was akin to listening through some headphones covered in thick socks. ;D
Probably only really of any value to someone who's doing a period-perfect late 70's/early 80's replica. Especially as they are AM units, so you're stuck with listening to Radio 4 on LW and Absolute Radio/TalkSport on MW!!
Might raise £15 each for novelty value. As PS says your best bet is to stick 'em on Ebay with no reserve.

My old man's got six of them, ranging from an uber-rare '69 Utilabus (with 1600 slant-four) to an '84 CF2 dropside which he still uses for clearance work/tat hauling as well as shows.
Great old buses, if I was looking for a camper I'd go for a late CF2 with 2-litre CIH Opel engine as fitted to the Ascona/Cavalier/Mk1 Carlton/Rekord as they are much more sprightly (and a fair bit more economical) then the old slant-four Vauxhall lump. I did use my dad's '76 2.3 slant-four powered CF luton as band transport on occasions, but at 15mpg not TOO often......
If you're set on a diesel similar rules apply. The Perkins lump fitted in Mk1 CF's is archaic, noisy and glacially slow. Dad's '74 CF250 wrecker has one of those in with a TK box, it's bloody hideous to drive (55mph top whack, no synchro left on the gearbox, impossibly heavy steering), and my favourite for that very reason. ;D
CF2's had the 2.3 GM diesel which is slightly less archaic, noisy and slow LOL. I have seen a CF2 fitted with a 2.3 turbodiesel from a Frontera, but it was never a factory option.

and the good thing about these events is the usual road run, the noise those 2-stroking Fodens and Commers make is quite something You're not wrong there. ;D Imagine piloting that for 10-12 hours a day. Smashing set of pics Steve, cheers for posting them!

This: Peugeot 404 Coupe, built between 1963 and 1968, alongside this: 404 Cabriolet, produced between 1962 and 1968. Both cars were built by Pininfarina at their Turin factory, using 404 floorpan and running gear (1618cc injected hemi-head four-banger developing 85bhp), A total of 17,000 were built in both body styles, about 1500 remain according to Wiki. The engines in these cars first saw the light of day in 1290cc form in the 203 of 1948....and 1971cc versions were still powering Peugeot 505s up until 1991, and Peugeot J5/Talbot Express/Citroen C25/Fiat Ducato vans until 1994!! Great shots Ade. Cheers for posting them!
