the drivers front speaker cuts in and out (but that seems to have fixed its self). That might be a harness issue....I had a couple of stereos in it while I had it, a Pioneer cassette deck with aux-in so I could use my iPod through it, and a Sony Xplod CD player. The Pioneer was fine, but I had similar woes with the driver's side front speaker. The aftermarket harness I left in it was a bit of a sloppy fit plug-wise. Glad you're getting good service/MPG out of it. Wouldn't fret too much over an oil change, the stuff that's in it still gold and clean and it's only done about 4k since it had fresh trans fluid as well. I'm just glad it's gone to a good home.

I'm pretty sure in 20 years time I will be Brian haha. I feel for you, I really do. That captured a moment, right there. I was just texting SWMBO to say I was coming home, if you zoom in you can just about make out the Waitrose logos on the bags under my eyes. Brilliant shots Chris. That photo of KFW/MrsKFW is one of the nicest ones I've ever seen. Kev's been to Damaged Towers many times and Vicky thinks he's adorable (but then she's been Mrs.D for 19 years, says a lot for her taste....).

Dunno if having Pollitt in the driving seat will help sell it or not, but if it does...

I've long held the opinion that this place best represents the idea of what a true internet community should be. This story just underlines it.

Using the entrance gate by the grain bins this year so shouldn't be as much of a problem. Grateful for having front wheel drive, a gutless but torquey diesel engine and decent skinny tyres.

They'll fit, but they won't be right. They have the wrong offset for a FWD, and will give you handling issues, & also overload the wheel bearings. No handling issues, not far off XR2 offset. If the wheel bearings are ok, they will last fine. You ran deep-dish 1600E Rostyles on that too, from memory?

The first year that the Gathering was held at Prescott, there was a hot food van on the campsite. Virtually everyone had BBQs on the go or knew friends who had, plus the food at the clubhouse is pretty darned good, so there was virtually no trade for him. Plus he was exorbitantly expensive from memory. Disposable BBQ and slab of steak from Sainsburys in Cheltenham.....sorted. Wish I could find that video of MM tenderising his steak by repeatedly driving over it in his Delica.

One of my mates ran them on a Mk1 Fiesta without any issues, and I ran 14" Sierra 2.0iS steels on a Mk3 Escort many moons ago, so can't envisage any problems there.....

My God, I bet that Lada's got an induction bark on it like a pack of angry Jack Russells. What a gorgeous-looking car.

My old beast. Seems a very long time since I owned this, it was my daily when I first joined Retro-Rides back in 2006. '82 RRC 4-door with a Nissan RD28T straight-six turbodiesel in the front of it, mated to an LT95 long-stick gearbox, and Fairey overdrive. No idea who did the conversion, but it was well-engineered. Brilliant off-road tool, and just as good on it. That Nissan lump was awesome, it sounded like a truck but would happily sit at 90-odd all day if you wanted, and if you sat at 60-65 on a long trip it would touch 35mpg. We were doing a lot of rally marshalling at the time and you'd be hard-pushed to find a better tool for it. I sold it in 2007 to a guy from Carlisle who used it for guided greenlaning trips all over the Lake District, though after the Nissan's prodigious torque ripped three gearboxes apart he whipped it out and put a 200TDi in it. Last time I checked on DVLA it was still on the road, too.

Here's the alternative route if the M5's snarled up. Literally half a mile longer!

Might try to latch onto this, depending on the route I'm taking. What speed would we be convoying at? If I go above 65 my MPG goes into negative figures I'll happily take the lead. The M5 on a Friday afternoon in summer is a bit of a mare so I wouldn't worry about breaking 60mph even! I have an alternative route planned if the motorway's particularly bad. Might go that way anyway as it's rather picturesque and won't take much longer if at all.

Dunno what to say, probably the saddest sight I've ever seen on Retro-Rides. Just awful. Sympathies go out to all concerned.

If the engine came from a TR7 then it's a 2-litre, not an 1850. Should imagine it goes pretty well, too!

I don't believe post 1992 cars are allowed in retro parking regardless... There's been common sense discretion applied in previous years, but I imagine that it's easier to say all cars pre 1991 or whatever as it's hard to quantify common sense to the public I think the big problem this year is down to sheer numbers. 800 cars is a helluva lot to fit into that field in a couple of hours on a Sunday morning. I'll use my own discretion on our club stand, we've got a dozen interesting cars spanning 1978-1998, most of which are competition vehicles. Another's an iconic mass-produced supercar from the early 90's, and there are another pair of identical late 90's competition-inspired rarities. If it's looking like space is at a premium and people won't be able to get up close and/or photograph them should they wish to I'll be leaving my BX in the car park, 1989 or not! The show's what matters, my participation in it isn't an issue for me. I'll be having a brilliant time anyway.

as mentioned when requesting my club stand passes we have cars of all age coming & was told this wouldn't be a problem ?, what time do we need to be on are club stand by on the Sunday morning ? If it's modified and it's on a club stand, it's fine. If it's modified and it's NOT on a club stand, then there's a separate Retro Parking Area which is part of the show. If it's a stock 1991-on car, then it's probably better to leave it in the public car parks. Otherwise the place ends up looking like a 1996 Asda carpark photo. As far as I understand it, gates open for exhibitors at 8am Sunday. The public car parks open at 9am. I'm sure the hard-working gate staff would appreciate your early arrival!!
