For sale is my Triumph dolomite it has an 1850 engine.
It is classed as a DOLOMITE not a dolomite 1850 it was before the engine size model numbers.
It was built on the 19th of January 1973 so not tax free this year but will be next if the government do what they have said.
It has had three owners from new I myself am the third owner. It has some history loads of receipts and a note book of work carried out by the 1st owner.
The 2nd owner purchased the car form its first owner on the 01/07/2007 I purchased the car off him 2months 5 days later on the 06/09/2007
For the next 4 1/2 years I had lots of fun driving around in the car. I put just over 3000 miles on the car over that time the current mileage is 87071. Just a note that’s the mileage of the old engine not the current one more detail in a min about that.
In 2011 I used the dolomite as a wedding car for some good friends of my wife’s and mine. On the way back the head gasket went and went well. The head welded itself to the block and cracked the block. I didn’t realise what had happened due to a faulty temp sensor (teach me to buy unknown).
So the car came off the road and I set about finding a replacement engine. Marriage honeymoon and baby came next. Whilst marriage baby things were happening I purchased loads of upgrade goodies to go on the car. I had delusions of awesome car. 2011 found me with a good known engine from Carl on the dolomite forum.
The engine is an 1850 it has hs4 su carbs with k&n filters with the correct needles I fitted a lightened flywheel. It has new plugs leads oil and filter with a spin on filter conversion. There is a lumitronic electronic ignition system fitted. As far as I know the engine came from a TR7 so has more power output than a standard 1850. Car battery is about 6 months old
I have fitted polybushes to the whole of the front of the car. Also fitted to the front is Avo adjustable coil overs with 1 inch lowering springs from rimmer brothers.
The front brakes have been completely overhauled with a trackerjack conversion which consists of mk2 golf 238mm vented discs ford sierra brake callipers and custom adaptors with braided hoses.
The rear is untouched at the moment but everything is there to complete including a full set of polybushes and the rear avo adjustable coilovers all new.
There is no mot or tax with the car as its off road. The ignition barrel is not currently on the car this is not because it has been stolen or broken into. The ignition barrel spindle sleeve broke and the ignition wouldn’t fire so I took it apart and haven’t sourced another at the moment I used a screw driver to turn the ignition mech to start the car.
There are lots to say about the car I'm sorry if it doesn’t make any sense.
In the pictures you will notice the rear pillars are covered in retro beer can vinyl it did have original black vinyl pillars. The only reason for the change is because the original glue gave up and it looked like the pillars had rusted through. I removed the black vinyl and checked the pillars no sign of rust whatsoever all nice and original and neat and tidy. However on removing the original black they were brittle and cracked. So I fitted some vinyl I had from my camper van.
Car is on compomotive cx alloys 13x6 with centre caps obtained from compomotive direct, with correct period stickers THE TYRES ALTHO THEY HOLD AIR WILL NEED CHANGING.
Also comes with two sets of sprint alloys in various states of refurb.
There are a lot of spares with the car I do mean a lot including a fully refurbed head ported and polished with jigsaw hi performance inlet and exhaust springs and a fast road cam with correct shims for the current engine that is fitted
