Arrgh, why do we do it to ourselves (sorry no pics i left the damn camera there) As some may of guessed, my budget wepon of choice for CaRS was going to be the shipwrecked MR2. mainly cos its beggin to be driven, the 4age is well up for it, its showing its age and needs welding though. I think my dads expecting school of bodge i.e hide flakey non existent metal under body kit for MOT man, hmmm bit too late for that! found some real compost heaps under the front wing and rear panels! Not as bad as it could be but worrying when all you can see under a car is rust and old worn out bits plus i'm only there at weekends, i'm worried i won't get it done or cant afford for CaRS! Do i invest a back up plan in the sapph, more money more gambling, and mods are planned anyway after July it will look different but nothing like the coolio cossies on other stands, What i'm trying to say is none of my cars are currently 'show cars' but i'd hope if i had to bring the sapph it would represent a part of RR... Tempted to sell one or two at the mo £wise comments, advice, your own deadline dilemas?

I am sure no one would complain if you brought the sapphire to CARS. Rots the worst thing for mk1 MR2`s. They seem to have all gone the same way in the last few years as well.

Cheers I need to 'tidy it' to see what MOT man says (whos a mate of my dads ) so don't want to spend too much on the tidy up. like if he tells me its a scrapper - don't think it is though. Gonna order some panels for rear sections then help my dad weld em up. If he will without protest A wing for front is about £125 . however it bolts straight on dead easy ot a good time for expenses, may dbidge the current one for now, but weekends are slipping by

I'm easy, dosent matter what you bring, its the effort of driving to cars that counts. Who cares about the other saffies, if they give any gip then there is a whole army of retro riders!
I looked under my turbo imp and it was a mass of really really old worn out bits and a sea of rust, stil got through 2 more MOT's though!
i say chin up, itll all be fine!

I'm not going to CARS to see immaculate show cars lovingly prepared in heated cushioned workshops, and I'm sure no Retro-Rides members are. None of my cars are totally immaculate..in fact some of them are pretty rough. Don't panic about it mate, I'm not gonna bust a gut or my wallet to try and impress anyone else at any show. I just want to take one of my cars, [any one of them as I love all my cars], meet some great Retro-Rides people and their great cars. In some ways I actually prefer to see a "real life" tatty car than a tarted up showpiece, and I get the impression a lot of us on here feel the same.

The sapphs gonna get in the weeds so it sould look just right, i'll set the wheels in motion for that plan if next weekend goes bad. there was some crusty noises taking the sideskirts off too, luckily theres a place in the same town that makes sills! ok booking time off work....

Very much in the same boat as you mate, so much to do on the car I want to take, but with a back up vehicle if it doesnt go to plan (which still needs work, just less work ) I say work like you've never worked before on the MR2, and if it doesnt get done in time, you've still got a nice retro to show, so you cant lose! The MR2- is the front wing a neccesity right now? just thinking that if it isn't structural then leave i'd it for another time, and just concentrate on the structural stuff for now

pecker up chap. If I go in the Olds you'll see a battle cruiser wearing its battle scars for all to see. If I go in the Ventora it'll probably break down well before we get anywhere near.

I know i was abit OTT really, people on here have some very big fish to fry! It was originaly intended to be a long termer strip down job with full make over and will be after i have run it for a bit. better to use it in rat look than forget it i figured, so i'm doing what i can in the yard away from home. I think some of the stresses come from money matters and other surrounding stresses. so i'm gonna chill. Part of the lure of the 3 door v8 was its a rust free starting platform, (really don't want to rush or bodge that one, so its on the back burner for a while). and a year on i'm attacking rust! Will be worth it when its done. See you all there in one contraption or another!

I'll have the 4AGE if you don't want it ;D I'm hoping you'll just bring anything! Regardless of what it is, we'll enjoy poking around it and nit picking anyway ;D It'll all straighten out

Yeah i forget, that CaRS isn't some kind of typical show, just didn't want to let the side down. thinkin about it there is gonna be character oozing out of the RR stand! I cant wait, we're gonna have a top diverse line up. My views on car scenes have changed dramatically over the last 12 months, its gonna be ace whatever happens. and lewis, the 4age is the best bit! ;D apart from the interior which is a job ticked off.

With <4 weeks to go, I suggest concentrating on doing as much as you can to whatever car you know is going to get there, rather than working like a madman on something which might not. Put your time and limited money into the Sapphire and make what you can of that.
I'm coming to the same conclusion with my fleet. I've got four options I could bring along, but I know which is easiest and will create most impact for minimum expense/effort so - pending forthcoming discussions with my technical advisor - that's what I'm going to concentrate on.
Sadly we can't all be racer86 or nightmares can we?!

No you are right Spotted laurel. I wanna get the 2 shifted home (out of the way) plus want summat sporty for summer. not sure how it would fare on the strip! I might be able to cheat slightly with the Sapph too picking up a wing along withthe MR2 panels, It can be done i'll just have to get another job or summat somehow! (in the mean time i can be helped recoup by folks purchasing a magazine in the FS section! )
