I don't come on here really anymore hence ive had to rejoin
I had the pleasure of Simon being one of my best friends for over 10 years. He was my housemate for a few years and drinking buddy too. I cannot put into words what i feel at the moment but i know how proud he would be to see how many people knew him or knew of his work.
I have spoken to Becc about the following and she thinks he would have liked it. To show our respect and and love for him we would like to organise a procession of cars for the funeral, retro, J,cool etc. So anyone that knew him and would like to take part please pm me and i'll give you the details.
I think to have a car of his as the lead would be the way to go. His Corona prob most suitable but i do know he was just finishing an engine swap and it still had a few bits to finish. To make this possible i would appreciate a bit of help as I'm nowhere near as talented with a spanner as Simon was. So if any of you could help me and are not too far away that would be great.
Feel free to put this up on other sites that he was on. I know some of them but not all.
PM me if you can help
Thanks Sam

Hi Sam. Thanks for the post, I've just spoken to Becc also about the procession and very pleased she likes the idea! She also mentioned the award being very heartfelt and she was behind that too so if the mods can seriously look into making that happen it'd be great!
Thanks for the suggestion of getting the Corona on the road. I'm available for most of the days this week and am going to call Guy in a second and see if he would like to come up and help also.
Chris

Chris, Sam, for those of us separated by thousands of miles but not by affection, would you please post up the exact time the procession is to get underway in GMT? I will participate in it from Ohio at the appointed time in brotherhood. You won't see it, and I won't see you, but HKP will! Norm
PS**If it becomes appropriate at some point to tell some fun things about interacting with Si over the internet, I have a fun story to share. I always think of it when I think of Simon, and it makes me laugh out loud every time.

Just rejoined to add my condolences here after I heard this very sad news yesterday morning. I had the pleasure of meeting HKP and seeing his beautiful Corona at Billing a couple or so years ago. If I found any new photos or info about these cars he would come to mind.
I certainly had a rather reflective day yesterday, thinking about how important it is not to put things off. Through his obvious skill and enthusiasm Si clearly did achieve a great deal, perhaps we can all be inspired to put that little bit more effort in. Hopefully the memories we have of him and his cars are a fitting testament and that it will mean something to his fiancée and family.

Just seen this. Tragic news and my thoughts go out to his nearest and dearest.
Again I am one who never met him, but his threads were always interesting and he came across as a genuinely nice guy. One of the good guys.
RIP chap.

this is such a shame being from Hinckley i had hoped to see one of his cars about some day in passing. i had even considered contacting him as i lived so closed and adored his car! i had heard about an incident on the A5, I'm not sure if these were related but it is a real tragedy
