well heres the old boat i bought at the end of january last year, i got it as a partially stripped car with endless bits missing from it, bought purely for the solid shell as ive always wanted to have a mk1 with a g60 engine under the bonnet after a few of weekends messing and a lot of parts sourcing, its now in 1 piece and running, the 2.0l 8v oettinger lump will most likely end up in the black cabby but this is how she sits now. should be on the road this summer. hope you like, Karl.

yes mars red is the one to have, i was looking for a red or black car after selling my really tidy red mk1 about 8 years ago, this is now my 14th mk1 tintop and this one is here to stay.
well I had to buy it, paid strong money for what it was but its a keeper, never been welded, doesnt need welding, straight chassis legs, solid as a rock, its the ideal base for a project really. Karl

2nd weekend in june went out the window!, just a few mundane jobs done but took this pic as it will warm the belly of any golf lover my faded one, a tidy 2.0l 16v converted mk1 on the other ramp and the twin engined mk2 project behind that. good times!

That is a lovely looking car in excellent condition. Mars red is my favourite colour on the Mk1 Golf. Is it the original paint? - It is superb.

its not origonal paint unfortunately, looks like it has had a blowover at some point in its life, the wings are replacement items too and i have had to change the bootlid for a good one as the origonal one was rotten, also the bonnet was dented so i have replaced that also.
for a 28yr old car its in good condition, it needs a rear panel as its a bit poor and both outer sills replacing as a previous owner has jacked it up wrong and crushed the front sections of the sill. its never been welded though and the chassis legs are all straight so this one is a keeper.

right my fuelling issues are down to a rust in the tank due to a rusty filler neck, its all taxed and tested and road legal now and driving it around has pretty much confirmed the rusty neck issues. going to pull the tank off and clean it out, fit a new filler neck and change the fuel filter to see if thats gets me somewhere, hopefully it hasnt got past the filter and clogged up the metering head and WUR etc, fingers crossed
