very tempting, but wrong time of year to be buying another engine I think, paid over the odds for my 1600 tbh and went to great efforts so far to get it running to no avail I am however after a complete interior for a cabby if you can help on that?
right, small update, rear beam off, tank off, new one ordered, santa's helpers did not assist me over the festive period so I'm not being a good boy no more!, plan to get my hands dirty much more often. Karl
There's an oettinger cam cover on German eBay at the mo if you really want one, the throttle cable bracket is broken on it so you will need to make one and its over 500quid, mine is not for sale.
right guys, got the new tank fitted, rear beam back on, suspension and brakes re-fitted, swapped the metering head and injectors/ lines and the warm up reg for some i stripped from a mk1 i broke years ago. have ordered a replacement fuel accumilator as mine looks a bit ropey, I'm going to replace the fuel lines too as the origonal steel ones are pretty scrap and the insides will be clogged up with rust from the old tank,
once the accumilator and fuel lines are sorted she should be running again, there are a few loose wires under the bonnet to sort out but that shoudnt be an issue.
and with her new fuel lines, she runs, took some cranking over to get the old bus to fire up first time but once alive shes all good, theres still jobs left to sort out, i think the injectors are knackered so they need changing, some electrical gremlins to sort and bleed the brakes but its slowly getting there. Karl
but i do need to take the exhaust manifold off and heat wrap it as its melting the steering rack boot, and its missing a little bit under load so going to change the leads and injector seals
Black stripe on the center cap & spokes makes a big difference. Normally such caps would be the first thing I'd leave off, but that looks great & will match the big bumpers well.
It was in club gti's rabbit magazine in the late 80's as a crew car Rob, would be ace if it was in an old golf mag as i have a loft full from around 99ish
its still here guys, wheeled her out of the garage to fix a few bits and give her a clean, on some temporary ronals till I get round to refurbing the comps.

Still have this. Have been really enjoying using this car now that all the trivial little bits have been done too Always said that i wouldn't drive it in the rain but have had a good run in it today in the horrific downpour and it's been a pleasure to drive.
Need to use this more. Bought out for a clean to remove the layer of dust and done a couple trivial jobs. Road tax in may so I can drive something that makes me smile
Next up is replacing all the gear linkage bushes as describing the gear change as vague would be an understatement. Will need to get over to my mates unit on a Saturday to use those lifesaving ramps
