I've not kept track of this thread for a while, but just had a 'cuppa & breakfast catch-up' session. I'm glad I did...the car is looking great. When I say great, I don't mean great in the "show car" way, but great in the "hard as nails" way. ;D Excellent work, I really like it - I even like the wheels. If you painted them black it would look so much better and you'd not be wishing to change them half as much. The front spoiler is genius. If you angled it a bit more (a bit less vertical) I reckon it would work even better with the overhang of the front bumper. As for the photos, brilliant! All the posts from May 17th onwards I can easily identify which camera you used. Even though you alternate photos between each camera in one of the posts, the difference is so easy to spot and amazing. Keep taking shots and posting them up, your thread has taken on a whole new look since you got your G9. As for the gearlever, I reckon you should just weld this on:

Thanks guys, means alot Great to hear the someone else notices the camera difference too The front spoiler was angled when I mounted it, but I occasionally have to drive on a gravel road to work which has pushed it vertical.. I'll brace it next time the car's near a welder And yes, the locking plier-gear lever idea has run through mine, and several other minds ;D Every time I look at the car i'm thinking how much better it'd look with black wheels, but the plan was all along to sell them on once i've got something else to chuck under it. They're not worth much, but painted alloys seems to be impossible to get sold here, and they haven't got the slightest scratch. This is the first car they're mounted on. But still... I made a quick photoshop of what colours are available in the cheap shelf at the local market ;D You'll have to imagine the black-stripe orion lights ;D

Gotta say, quite like the orange! Agreed! But maybe a bit darker to suit the 'i'm gonna bite you' look of the car. Love it

Orange and blue work well. Love the mad camber the front suspension has got since you slammed it

Thanks for the feedback, leaning towards orange or black myself. The blue is actually a lot greener and darker in real life. Orange and blue work well. Love the mad camber the front suspension has got since you slammed it The mad camber comes from a slight misscalculation when I made new holes to try and improve the ridculous roll center I also thought I found rear window louvers for it, but sadly they didn't fit. At all. Good news is that the guy had another one that he was sure was of a 4 door taunus. Now on to what's been happening today. I've noticed some weird rips on the front tyre. Apparently there was a screw unfortunately placed in the front fender Guess I can't lower it anymore on these wheels... ;D Bortaf predicted this back on page 1. The car have been shaking a bit more than usual lately, and today when we lifted the car up to change the clutch we found this. Nice Well we carried on, box off. Old and new flywheel, pressure plate and clutch, Putting it togheter we apparently needed to find a new rubber doughnut. Sitting around wondering how on earth we would get to my place after another one, out of nowhere, a merc appears! Yay! Sadly my friend slipped on the gas, an almost got us killed. But we sucessfully fetched a new doughnut. But ofcourse a mk2 piece didn't want to fit the mk1 front prop shaft... Luckily we found a 1.6 prop in a spare car And could get a complete fitting prop shaft togheter. Huge success. While I was at it I rebuilt the center mount, fixing the strain on the doughnut. The car feels alot better with the new flywheel and clutch, I can finally do burnouts ;D And the lighter flywheel makes it feel alot less lazy. (And yes, I know I should have a burnout vid here, maybe next time! )

I know of a volvo axle that's going in when this one gives up. We gave it first aid tonight, but sadly it had chipped a tooth on the pinion gear, making the rear sound like a jackhammer off throttle. Basic stuff I managed to melt the last nozzle half an hour after the shops closed before we'd managed to melt everything into a huge solid block, but i'm sure it'll hold up anyway. I'm guessing the rear won't live forever anyway. And obviously the most important bit, checking so it surely holds up, and isn't a danger to nuns and kittens in traffic. Apparently the tyres weren't the smokey kind

Thanks guys ;D loxlee - they're some kind of über soft studless winter tires, still think they'd smoke though... I have now acquired this A ported and skimmed injection head with a pipercams bp285, stiffer springs and a adjustable gear. Now where will i find twin webers which fit my budget, or at least a 32/36!

I'm in desperate need of a bigger carb, right now i'd be happy even with a 32/36, but apparently there's a lack of them in finland... Anyway, tonight i was going to change the head, the car has had some weird running issues and have smoked a bit lately, so i was hoping it would be the head gasket. The head gasket turned out to be fine, but the valve steams were rock hard. A few other problems also appeared... This far it didn't look too bad.. But something seems to be missing... Found most of them.. But upon removing the head it looks like i got a bit carried away setting the timing.. With dire consequences Although all others were fine I would have installed the new head, ignoring the piston but apparently the newly built head had a few split valve steams, so it'll have to wait until tommorow, when i can get my hands on some new ones.

My "good enough" followers weren't as "good enough" with the new cam and stiff springs, so now it sounds absolutely terrible! Got new generic cheap ones as i recalled burton ones being bloody expensive, but now as i check them they are cheap even from the finnish distributor!
