Ok, I like stats. Sorry. I also like to monitor for trends. I am not noticeably “brand loyal” as are some people. However I thought it might be fun to look at the groups which make the cars I have owned. I have owned enough cars to make this statistically relevant! I know some guys are “Mopar or No Car” or “Ford Blue Through and Through” or whatever, but I tend to just buy what I like although that does tend to lead to statistical clustering as we will see in a moment. I would have said I had a slight preference for cars made by General Motors. I was slightly surprised to see when I added them up that 49% of the cars I have owned have been made by General Motors brands (covering 4 nations and 2 continents mind). That is some “slight” preference, right? As I suspected Ford was in second place as 20% of the cars I have owned have had a blue oval somewhere on them. It may come as a mild surprise to some readers that BMC (or its later variants) takes joint third place with 11% of my previous fleet ownership which puts them level pegging with Ma Mopar. If we were to include my wife's cars in the calculations then BMC edges ahead as she has had several Minis (of the proper sort) and just the one Chrysler (PT Cruiser). That leaves 5th place to a trailing Toyota, with a variety of others straggling on in the statistically irrelevant doldrums behind. So considering I never set out to follow a certain brand or motor group or not I still managed to. Are you brand loyal, either intentionally or otherwise? Images are just the first suitable image for "classic..."

I'm a total brand whore. I'll just go with whatever tickles my fancy really!
I have a fondness for Mercedes but that doesn't stop me buying "arch rival" BMW's. In fact, I've owned twice as many Bimmers than Mercs!

Skoda-man through and through. I just love them and I am quite literally obsessed with the brand. But that doesn't stop me appreciating other car marques and I certainly lust after non-Skoda models. Infact, my foray into Fiat ownership now sees me looking to replace it with another Fiat!

I've been rather country loyal, rather than brand loyal. All but three cars I have owned (and one of those three I generally ignore) have been built in England,38% of them in Coventry. 54% were built by companies either in or later joined the BMC/BL combine. 15% Rootes. Bear in mind I haven't owned that many cars - 13 unless I've forgotten something.

in answer to the original statement, my view on it is ford up til about '49, GM afterwards. in the 50s and 60s ford really lost it for me yet GM came out with some killer stuff.
embarassingly, ive owned more (aircooled) Vws than anything, about 35, compared to about 3 of any other type/brand.

I love getting as much as possible under my belt tbh. 40% of my cars have been BMWs, like thus: 28% Skodas, such as: and Renault, Peugeot, Citroen, Rover, Austin, Daewoo, Hyundai, Fiat, Isuzu, Mitsubishi and Seat sharing the other third. That balance should be altered in the next week hopefully. In fact probably tomorrow.

Tis a tricky one because I have only owned one car (a hyundai)
but I'm not limiting myself to one make, anything Japanese will do. But if I had to be with only one make (which I could do very easily as I love them so much) it would be NISSAN / Datsun.
But saying I'm a J fan even I have a soft spot for old fords/skodas/vauxhalls.

67% Volkswagen, 33% BLMC Rover.
I'm not an old VW fan, I'm an old car fan who happens to own and like (amongst things) VWs. I can't see my next purchase, if/when it comes, being VW either.

I am fairly brand loyal, i'd still rather have a Ford than a Vauxhall, and that harks back to my first car which was a Fiesta. Also model loyal as i've owned more Ax's than any other brand (2xGTi's, 1xGT, 1xJazz 1x1.1 5dr) ;D

I'm not too fussed really. Got a fondness for Rootes like Seth, mainly because I own one. But, if I like it and I can afford it, I'll drive it

Don't think I'm particularly loyal... however I have owned three VW's, co-owned another VW and owned a Skoda. But I don't see myself as a VW person.

Well current fleet includes 2 US Fords and 1 Uk (2 mustangs and one transit) but then i also have the chevy camaro...
TBH out of the literally hundreds of cars I've had over the years A LARGE proportion of them have been Fords, certainly the ones that stuck around, I do love a blue oval US or UK....
Countless Capris the odd Granada some Mustangs a Transit several Scorpios several Escorts and Fiestas a lone Mondeo a few Sierras ect ect Looking at Ford Excursions at the mo as well, but then i think the Chevy Suburban's probably a better car..
Second up must be Rover and SAAB had so many Landies Rangies P5's/P6's SD1's that i've lost count same goes for classic saab 900's and the odd 9000
After that it's all sorts, owned all sorts of junk and gems, there's a list on here somewhere where i scared myself, but it was nice to see I'm not alone!
It's all hogwash really I love anything with 4 wheels from Aston to a Wartburg, it's all good..

Well I own 6 1/2 fords, me sons name is Ford, me last name is Boreham so i'm pretty much a ford man through and through but i'll own anything decent TBH but fords are where my heart is at ;D TBH I think a high percentage on here will be non 100% brand loyal, it's probably the most brand varied site on the net after all
