Basically rule of thumb for me if someone asks (as they occasionally do), over 20 years old = retro, under 20 years old = might be interesting if well modified, or might just be a car that people are tooling around in hoping to call it retro. Depends on the quality of modification on more modern stuff. Nice to see you are still alive and well Russell..

^^^ Ditto. They were only launched in '97!!! '96 '95 Great cars though, buy one. I'm never getting rid of mine (saloon admittedly) and have many many plans for it. Heavy on bushes and brakes but thats to be expected.

E39 Tourings didn't come to the UK until '97. My stepfather bought one as soon as they came out.

There's a P-reg 523i auto sitting on my drive. Great cruiser and very relaxed to drive. It's a loan car from DMWorx (previously BMWorx) while my 330d is getting a new exhaust...

E39 Tourings didn't come to the UK until '97. My stepfather bought one as soon as they came out. This is true - the Touring model came later. i've never yet seen a '95 saloon though. Perhaps in Germany?
