Yep, I know what some of you may be thinking, a MK3 Ford Fiesta ain't old enough to be mentioned on here (although first version appeared about 1990). However I need your help (and inspiration) Friends 17 year old son has got himself a 1995 Fiesta that he wants to ...wait for it ... 'modify' but, fair play he's not interested in bodykits, ice lights, 17inch wheels etc which most kids of his age go for, so anybody have any 'retro - themed Mk3 fiesta' pictures? I know someone posted a couple of german ones on here from the 'ring last year . Thanks for any help/piccies

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

time for 3 spokes to come back, this standard set up works for me, but not on a 1.0, less is more on a 1.0 i think. also always liked the XR2i wheels.

Not an easy task without knowing where to look. two that i like the look of. If i had a small engined one i'd get some nice XR2i silver, white, or polished alloys on there. de clutter, and lower.

That bonnet actually looks better than the factory one!!! In fact, this is the ONLY 'bad boy' bonnet that I have ever seen which is actually an improvement!

pfft they all look vile. if it was me. itd be 2.0 zetec and carbs time. but obviously being 17 thats not necesarily possible.
so what i would do. is.. leave it as is. talk him out of it and tell him of all the cool cars he'll be able toget in a year or 2's time and he will be better of just saving his money for petrol and for more cars

I think I see what you are saying but ... ...what were we like when 17? e.g. I was told that patching/welding up old Mini's was a waste of time ;D And today I'm informed by some at work that I'm a fool for not having a nice new car on the' never never' payments ;D

There may be a bigger one somewhere, its a siggy off this forum it seems elbarto.tippinfs4corner.de/thread.php?threadid=564&boardid=34&styleid=1I agree with Rearwheelnick too, grabs summat good in the background while you can, or save for another, but you do get attached to the first and these little things can be a load of fun in their own right. get him to join up to make his own mind up.

I'm not saying he should get a nice new car no, but every car that crosses our paths doesnt need to be tarted. ..and if he really must do somethign then i say cut springs, grey primer and moon discs. but those "euro" ones shouldnt be used as any sort of inspiration IMO...

Not really a fan, rather have my £300 Starlet thanks. Having said that, have driven a late 1.25 model and that was alright. Saw this one at lunchtime............

While I can see both sides of the arguement he's best of concentrating on "mods" which are cheap, will be good practice for later and won't make him look like a fool or hit his insurance. Yeah, a Chevette or something would be a better choice but sounds like he has the thing already. I'd say colour code everything, or remove excess badges & trim, maybe get some cheap second hand alloys off a XR3 or later model or something, then just drive it and put the pennies by for the next one. My first road legal car just got washed and occasionally polished. If it stayed still long enough. if he wants a rolling project best to start wth something worth making into a project, like a Viva or Chevette or a Mk1 Fiesta. Theres a really nice sounding Mk1 Ghia in our local rag for £350 ono a mate is thinking of bagging.
