Thanks Lewis.
I now need more bits.. I got a chip set (Uk) and now I need a 3.0 bar fpr, and a better blow off valve to hold good boost like 17psi. Some sources say I need a 3" free flow exhaust, but I'm sure it is fine being a non cat exhaust up to about 350hp

Some people reckon you need another exhaust (The Lindsey Racing item is a damned large bore!) although my specialist reckons the opposite. So much so that his race 951s always run either stock systems or Dansk systems. So you should be fine . Indeedy, a lack of cat does help matters which the earlier cars never had. It is indeed looking the business.

Boost gauge fitted, took me a while to decide where to put it.. Porsche tuners want £60+ for a 3.0 bar FPR. Just get a propper bosch one from a BMW for £10 like I did. With the new (026) air/flow/mtr it runs nice, it was a bit smokey before but it turns out that was fuel lol, was as soon as the 026 was fitted it was clean. I have changed the FPR to a 3.0 bar from a BMW. I have put in the stage 3 chips, I doubted them, but they work. The only other thing bothering me at this state of tune was the factory blow off valve, so I got an aftermarket one, its a non re circulating one which is frowned on with 944s, as it ruins the idle (mine is 1200rpm anyway) the other problem is it confuses the fuel mixture when you lift and it goes rich for a sec so it can emit a flame...and this does. So with a tighter BOV boost is now only ltd by the wastegate spring. I still only have about 3 bar oil pressure as ive not had a chance to get under it (weather) but I gave it a tickle up the road and I would describe the accelaration as pure filth. I think I have done as much as can be done now on a K26/6 (290hp ish) so on the look out for a K26/8 which is the next stage (worth 20-30 hp) and I may have a dogleg box comming my way- will it ever be finished?

Having had a mk3 golf vr6 and a couple of 20vt Leon's, compare those to the 328i and my 944s2
You most Definately have the upper hand!

Doesn't Dave have two 26/8's? We've had great results with hybrid 26's on the Audi stuff

Count, I forgot your the turbo man, il speak to you when its time to change it! I thought Daves spares were 26/6s? On another note I saw a black nova saloon today,it was stock on some retro dished rims (mims?) and it clearly had an LET in it, sounded awsome, went better! Saw it twice nr Flitwick. Anyone you know?

will it ever be finished? Unlikely. ;D There always seems to be something else on the horizon. Mind you, that's what makes ''built not bought'' such an attractive option imo.

Hey, nice one. Sounds like you are almost there. Yeah both my spares are K27/6. I got a chance to take mine on a prelimary - smoked like a charm lol. Hopefully due to my idiot mistake "spilling" a pint of oil into cylinder no 1 ... don't ask... I had to abort early but at least it doesn't smoke on idle anymore! Hopefully it will clear itself or block the cat...anyway got to test the dogleg and all good, no worn syncro(s)! I didn't get on the boost but I'm happy! Got another 2 box's to test Gav.

Dave I'm sure it will clear! what shell are you in now?
Good news it all works, better news about boxes! There is 1 at work, plus T tube and linkage. No rear beam tho, so i need to make a gearbox mount.
Countvaux, how much would it cost to "rework" a k26 into somthing special?

I'm still in the 86' non sunroof shell. I'm deffo gonna re-shell into the 92' S2 but I want to sell the engine first. So if you know anyone who wants an excellent S2 engine let me know! It can still be heard running BTW.

Did you sort the oil pressure problem?
If the engine has not been run for a bit you need to prime the oil pump.
Pull oil filter and pour oil down filter housing while turning engine over counter clockwise.

Certainly is a gem Gav, cheers for sharing.
James, Ideally I would use the 86' non-sunroof shell with the s2 engine... In lightened form to "flatter the power level (210bhp). I plan to T&T it in its current turbo form for proper road testing before I re-shell into the S2. At least the shell will be T&T and a roller - albiet in need of paint.
