So Mrs Lucky Gti and me have been hankering after a Mk 2 Escort for years, and we finally took the plunge and went and had a look at one at the weekend. To say we were smitten would be an understatement, so we ignored all of the guides and advice and nearly snapped the guys hand off To say it is mint would be a bit of an understatement. Quickly, because I'm knackered and need to go to bed 2k 2.1 Burton engine, AP 4 pots and vented/drilled discs up front, 9 Inch drums, 5 speed box. To say we're happy would be an understatement More to follow

Although I'm only 16 so never really saw many of these on the road, I have to admit I love them Although I am a bit of a Ford fan Youve pretty much got my dream spec her aswell engine wise, add some of the rally stage wise arches, some wide minilights and you sorted in my opinion

I had a MK1 with a 2.1 pinto, it was one of the most entertaining cars I have ever owned. And even by today's standard it was a quick motor.

Well, I'll be running it down to Nightmares next weekend so keep an eye out, but think I might have to do a little meet down my way before the weather gets too bad. We're pretty happy with it

So a mini update. We knew there were a few little jobs that needed doing, the main one (we thought) was the fact that the temperature gauge wasn't working. I wasn't too worried about the engine overheating, the guy we bought it off said the gauge had never worked (in fact up until the day we bought it, the radiator (twin core) fan hadn't even been connected. All the same.... So we took the gauge pod out and set about making one good one from the two we had, Refitted, we noticed that the oil pressure pipe didn't screw onto the new oil pressure gauge, so back out..... Then in, and then back out when I realised that the electrical connections weren't as good as the old one Finally it was refitted and.... Now the fuel and temp gauges just shoot straight round to the red Well, we had planned to go to Nightmares mini meet, but by the time we'd mucked around it was too late, so we took a blast round to Harwich instead. Well, it was a lovely day after all Man, that is a good looking car When we drove back into the garage we noticed a nice oil mark on the new concrete floor So in the car went the other way round. Guess what. There's a new leak there now jolly pain in the backside!

cheers dude, I remember me and my mate buying his first car when we were 17, a red mk2 1.1 for £150 (1992) , Ah themsa were the days.
My first Kadet c coupe was £100 from a scrappy with 10 months test on it but a blown headgasket (1993).........
