Jensen CV8 fix up. The roof on these is real stodge, so I gave it a bit of a restyle into a proper coupe shape and tweaked a few of the other rough edges too.

Man that CV8 is improved. I read your blurb, saw the first pic and thought 'it isn't that bad'...then I saw the improved one! Love the Granada Mk2 coupe and the coupe SD1 as well. It's always a worry coming to this thread as I get an itchy angle-grinding finger! surely can't be that hard can it... I've been playing about with the longroof Rangie compact a little and come up with a few different iterations (full credit to Littlepixel still as he made the original, I'm just messing it up with MS Paint...). Here's the 2-door: ...and the first longroof: I really like additional slant on the c-pillar for the coupe, but it makes the longroof look a little too rounded at the back for my tastes. So I thought about adding the original rear end from the Rangie back on (after having found the soure image online). Funny how the body-coloured rear pillar makes the design look rear-heavy. So I thought I'd black that out. Interesting... I also had a play about with just extending the roof on the slanted-pillar version to give it a little peak: And also a version like the above, but with the inside of the c-pillar a bit more standard (with some more of the junk thrown in the back and some rear seats). By now I've spent far too long staring at them to be able to work out which one I prefer

So I was wondering what could be done with an XJ6. Big, luxurious and fast and more importantly, cheap enough to chop up. Well, Jaguar already did the job with the XJC and it´s not that I dislike the XJC at all, but I wondered what it might have looked like if Jaguar had had a bit more money to spend on it and didn´t have the E Type as a competitor. Maybe they could have replaced the E with the XJC instead of the XJS? I remember that the XJ series was designed off the shape of the E Type originally, so I worked a bit of that back into it. The rear 'haunch' is lengthened forwards, as it´s cut off a bit short on these and I also added a dip to the belt line. Wheels are 17" Kent, though it looks fine on the original steels. It´s all terribly subtle.

This is fantastic - the exact kind of subtle and tasteful enhancement on something that wasn't broken, but needed fettling to really make it shine. Bravo!

the CV8 and the Jag XJ6 enhancements are things of utter beauty. and what are the wheels on the CV8! Thanks! The CV8 is one that makes a lot of people go "eurrgh" and it's a quirky one for sure. Even the front end cleans up really nicely, once you de clutter it. It could almost pass for a 1990s TVR front end, if you ditch the bumper, cut out the grille bars and fit headlight covers. Literally no other changes. live.staticflickr.com/8440/29502559842_a0b2fb6441_b.jpgThe wheels are probably one offs, that were from this '51 Ford coupe... Think it was on Jay Lenos Garage one time, if you want more info.

It's always a worry coming to this thread as I get an itchy angle-grinding finger! surely can't be that hard can it... Thanks! The SD1 coupe is doable, in that the front screen is at least stock. The top of the roof from the screen header rail is laid back so it makes a nice flowing line to the laid down tailgate. Originally they have a bit of a kink at the top of the tailgate that needs to go. That would get you the basic shape quite easily. The deal breaker might actually be the side glass, as it´s curved on these AFAIK. That and making longer doors and making the trim and fittings look like a factory car. And finding an SD1 that isn´t toast to start with.

Might I be able to put in a request if anyone's ot some time. I've always thought that Mk1 Triumph 2000s might look really rather good with a very mild roof chop. Something to just reduce the greenhouse by a couple of inches. The Mk2s with longer overhangs look a little better proportioned top-to-bottom, but having sat in my Mk1 I can tell there's a good 4-6" of headroom for me, meaning a roof chop would really have very little impact on interior space... Here's a couple of options for a side-profile image: 123Number 3 would be ideal if it weren't so small as that's the colour mine is.

I have played about with the early 2000 a few times and it´s hard to get right. The roof is very long, which gets a lot more prominent when you chop it. Here´s my shot at it....as it´s a 'gentleman's chop' and to save you a lot of pain getting glass cut, I´ve raked the front and rear screens to reduce the glasshouse. Also two doored it, as it seems like it would be probably the same effort as chopping four door window frames.

Neat! That looks dead cool much racier than the 4-door tall glasshouse version. Just need to sort my metalworking skills now Interesting that you mention the proportions are thrown off a little by the long roof with the shorter glasshouse. Probably shows that Michelotti really knew what he was doing when he designed the thing.

I mean the glasshouse is already disproportionately long compared to the size of the car and it´d end up looking like a railway carriage without the raked screens. Michelotti was definitely marching to the beat of his own drum in the 1960s. I did start on trying to design a Mk1 2000 coupe, in the style of Michelotti at one point - think 1963 Triumph Stag if you like - but it started to get weird quite quickly. I should go back to that one. I´d forgotten all about it until you brought this up. It´d probably have looked like a scaled up version of his Siata Coupe.

Ford Fusion. That tall 'Pensioner' car no-one seems to talk about. Perhaps it was a few years early, like the Streetwise. Everyone and their dog wants a mini Soft-roader these days—so why not a tastefully modded Fusion? All it really needs is paint / vinyl wrap / or some Plastidip - okay and maybe some adapters and 5-bolt Audi Pepperpots, General Grabber tyres and a bit of a fiddle with the headlights / indicator placement. And if you're being really creative, a Raptor/Ranger style grille. Add in a 'scene' roof-basket or even a roof-tent and Robert's your Mother's Brother. Boom - Instant Safari / Soft-roader / r/Battlecar. For peanuts, as no expensive lift parts needed and the peppy 1.6 Zetec would be just fine. Yes—you could maybe add in some Ecosport suspension parts and maybe an ST drivetrain but you'd never get your money back. Take that Grandpa, and all those that don't see potential in the curious tall little Ford.

Since the Ford Fusion was so well received - here's an A2 with Rally/Overland pretentions. Would Daily. (I used to have an A2 and never thought - "hey - the stock wheel arches look like aftermarket extensions" until today.) Given how light A2s are this would be a nippy and fun wee beastie.
