this..... Belongs to my mate. Its not an S8 despite the bling 20" wheels but its the next best thing - a 4.2 V8 Sport Quattro. In fact as an early 96 (I think) A8 it would have been the top line Audi barge when new as the S8 hadn't come out yet. Its a dream to drive once you've got over the imposing size of the thing. Its perhaps rather 'wooly' and vague in terms of steering feel, but then thats generally the nature of such a luxury vehicle. The chassis does also struggle to control those huge rotating masses of alloy if you hit a bump or undulations in the road. One thing I know is its pretty darn quick and can still be chucked about a bit. Also considering how much they were when new you get alot of car for your money Oh and this one has a custom made exhaust so sounds rather fruity

Nice cars. I remember having a look at a brand new one when they had just come out. It was £42000 - the salesman's comment was £10 per cc.
What kind of money can you pick one up for now?

supa dupa uber barge (just add nos) ;D Well there is talk of adding one of those units that makes a Range Rover Sport go fast ;D Its already faster down the quarter than my Type R ever was Yes Rainking, tis the same car that you saw at Boneshakers. I think my mate paid around 7K for it a couple of years ago - admittidly it did have quite high mileage, but I've seen similar cars now fetching 5 - 6 thousand, In fact theres a guy locally selling an S8 for £6000 - compare that to the £40,000+ price when new Expensive on parts though & they eat front suspension arms!

Super-Fast Barges are awesome... an old neighbour of mine had an S8.... but he punted it on when faced with some astronomical servicing bills - not cheap... now hoons about in a Lexus GS

One of my mate's dad had/has an S8. It was properly fast, and was pushing out 450bhp+. Bouncing off the limiter at 155mph is fun!

I remember seeing the prototype / show car at Earls Court (1993?) - the one with the polished bare ally body ;D It looked soo cool! Managed to scam my way onto the mailing list, & (unless it got chucked out) I have all the launch brochures somewhere....

I remember seeing the prototype / show car at Earls Court (1993?) - the one with the polished bare ally body ;D It looked soo cool! Managed to scam my way onto the mailing list, & (unless it got chucked out) I have all the launch brochures somewhere.... Yeah I can remember all the fuss surrounding the release of the all-aluminium bodied Audi & the polished show car My mate's A8 had to go back to Audi for a full re-spray under the anti-perforation warrenty after the paint started to bubble due to corrosion underneath - as you can imagine its a huge job & Audi were not too happy about having to do it! But now its all shiney & like new again The 2nd strike of good luck more recently was with the tyres - having done 20,000 miles on the tyres he'd got with the wheels (he drove to Germany to pick them up) They were obviously looking rather worn - on investigating what tyres to replace them with, he discoved that the original tyres were subject to a recall so he got a complete new set FOC!
