Bit of a long shot, but does anyone have a garage or a driveway or something that's a) free and b) not too far from Wandsworth SW18? Reason is that I'm only allowed one parking permit where I live, I'm picking up the BMW tomorrow and haven't yet sold the MX-5, so I need somewhere to stash one or the other until I can sell the Mazda... I know I should probably ask this in 'Garage Scene' or 'Wanted' but I, er, didn't.

Is it regular on street resident's parking? If so, you can register the BMW in your wife's name, and that way you're able to get a permit for it, as the council's regs are one car permit per person rather than per address.

I asked about that at the permit office, but they told me it's one car per household in my zone. Seems kind of draconian!

Never seen that in any of the related documentation (I'm also in the borough of Wandsworth) - is your place part of a recent development? If so, then it's probably due to a covenant on the property. However can you get the visitor permits? Not cheap, but might be useful for emergencies, or if the resident sparking also applies on Saturdays. Otherwise, when is the next car auction on the north side of Wandsworth bridge?

I'm in the zone around the Tonsleys/Wandsworth Town sort of area, which shouldn't be any different to any other zone, as far as I can see - maybe the woman in the council office was just wrong. I'll probably have to just get some visitor permits, I think - they're a fiver a day, but at least it's cheaper than the £12.60 a day I'd be spending feeding the meter!

For however long it takes to sell the MX-5! Someone's coming to look at it tonight so if they buy it the whole problem goes away... shouldn't be more than a couple of weeks, depending (I guess) on the state of the market etc.

I'm pretty sure you can in the estate between the heath and Roehampton Uni (around Dover Park Drive) - tinyurl.com/23cewcv
