Great pictures, some interesting motors on there, too, that coupe bodied mkI 'Frogeye' Sprite's a rarity, I'd be tempted to say that was a Lenham conversion, but it seems to still have the 'frogeyes', i.e. the headlamps sitting proud of the bonnet rather than the Lenham nose's E-type style faired in lamps, but I suppose it could still be just the roof part that the owner's chosen to install. I reckon I've spotted something interesting in this picture other than the Singer Chamois being an odd choice of trails weapon when a standard Imp would've been a more logical choice being mainly the same car, but cheaper and with less well appointed interior (i.e. you wouldn't want to get mud all over the Chamois' lovely upmarket interior, ;Dand the walnut veneer dash and leatherette seating of the early Chamois really was gorgeous, not like the later round dial dash with the less convincing 'wood' as in my Super Imp), although I suppose in those days people actually did take the daily driver to events so he probably likes the upmarket inteior as its his daily car, but anyway this is off the point. What interests me is the back window sitting proud of its surround the way it does. This indicates one of two things could be happening. 1 - The owner's tinkered together an improvement to ventilation by having the back window catches stay open at that level (or were they designed to stay open at that low down, I've only ever had Imps who'se catches would only hold the window right up, or wouldn't work at all, but I suppose they wear with age), although I'm thinking of knocking together a gas strut system similar to the ones holding modern hatcback/estate tailgates up when you open them, allowing me to run the car with the back window open while driving for added ventilation as the catches on my Imp don't want to hold the engine lid up for long and fitting a replacement set will only result in the same problem a few years down the line, or, 2 - The rear window lock and catches are f*cked already, after only a few years since the car was built, in typical early, teething trouble-troubled Imp fashion, allowing the back window to flap around as the car goes over bumps, letting mud in everywhere! ;D ;D I suspect number 2 isn't all that unlikely! ;D

could be the rear hatch is open to enable the co driver to sit on the engine lid to gain extra traction without having to get out of the car? on closer inspection,is the co driver trying to bail out? theres something behind the window but i cant make it out.

Lewis - you're a legend..........This frogeye is sat in my mates garage He's had it for about 20 years sat in the back of his garage in Caversham...he put it back on the road about 8 years ago after not being on the road for about 10 years.....unfortunatley his daughter put it in a ditch at about 50mph 3 weeks after going back on the road It's now fitted with a complete cage, 1430cc A+ engine, split 40's, 5 speed box and will soon be back on the road......I say soon - probably another 12 years! I'll have to get some pics next time I'm at his.
