...with apologies to Michael Cane etc. An idea I've been mulling over for the last week or so. Remember this? Yeah, well since it made its way into the Dungeon last June I've done nothing to it other than sort through all the parts. Its got to wait its turn for proper attention until the Oxford is done and progress on that has been slow of late due to engine swapping the Herald. There's quite a few crusty areas on the Isabella but there's also been a whole heap of work done on it too and I really need to get on and preserve its current state so that even though it is dry(ish) stored, it doesn't deteriorate at all in the good areas or get much worse in the bad areas. Trouble is even that will probably take up a good couple of days of precious dungeon time. So would anyone be up for a one day blitz to help out? I'm thinking probably once the weather starts warming up a bit, some time in April or maybe even into May. I think with a few extra pairs of hands (and twist knot equipped grinders!) the outlook for this car could really improve. Panels/bumper etc are just propped on here. Venue would be the mythical Dungeon in South London and food and beverages obviously supplied As I say, this is just tentative at the moment but if you might be interested let me know.

If this doesn't fall on an A52 playday then I am in for sure. Like Kev, if I can get as much notice as poss then I can make sure I am there.
Do you think Jedster might be allowed in the Dungeon? (just in case I can't get a 'sitter for him) - he's an awesome supervisor even if his rust removing skillz are a bit limited.

Cheers for all the offers. Could turn into a fun day. Maybe we could fully restore it? (Those who have seen it will know this is unlikely.....) If there was sufficient help perhaps we could see how it sits without springs ;D
I should probably clear any plans with Viscount Basinkstoke (aka The Keymaster) first. I really can't plan anything until the Herald is in daily use again and the weather is the current cause of delays on that front. Hopefully that will be sorted in a few weeks and then I could properly think about a date. I'd try and avoid an Area 52 date. Perhaps the one of the first Bank holiday weekend in May days?

If you need more hands I'd be up for it, depending on dates, when uni ends, when I have to go back home, whereabout in London, alignment of the planets, the dawning of the age of Aquarius, so on and so forth... Keep us updated

Can I offer a bit of advice?
Main constituent/active ingredient in rust eater is Phosphoric acid.
Go to your local farm supplies shop and buy a gallon of "Milk Stone Remover" This is for cleaning out pipes in dairies, but it's basically 40% Phosphoric acid and costs about £12.
Put it in a Mr Muscle gun, and soak everything that is rusting or might rust - it will stop it in it's tracks as long as it doesn't get too damp afterwards.
Wear gloves and goggles - it's pretty nasty stuff neat, even if the spray residue gets in your eyes it hurts.

Oh, and I forgot to mention - it's about 8000 times more potent than Coca Cola in the acid dept - so is excellent for cleaning fuzzy alloy parts too. Cleans 2p pieces almost instantly.

Put it in a Mr Muscle gun, and soak everything that is rusting or might rust - it will stop it in it's tracks as long as it doesn't get too damp afterwards. Interesting suggestion - sounds good. I've had good results with Kurust in the past: I wire brushed, Kurusted and primed (with Zinc182) the bonnet on my Imp in Zinc182, and it lasted well over a year of use in all weathers depsite not having topcoat. The wire brushing, kurusting and Zinc182-ing I did on my project car is still good after 6 years of storage - admittedly in a very dry barn, but the bits that I didn't do have deteriorated a little since. Depending on term dates and whether I'm obscenely busy or not I'd be up for giving a hand to preserve the Borgward.
