Please Audi put this car into production..... I guess Retro is the buzz word, first the New Beetle then the New Mustang, the GT 40 etc. but finally the ultimate Retro Ride has seen daylight at the Detroit Auto Show, the New Lamborghini Miura......

I like it, and my first thoughts were 'Miura' which means it must be a good likeness for the original!

Please don't.
Please find some originality, stop 'modernising' (read watering, almost dumbing, down) existing designs, and looking to the bottom line...

I like it. All of it. Alot. Even the wheels. Goes straight into my 'fantasy garage' to be sandwiched between the original Miura and Gallado that are already in there

gjm in da house: and spoil the legend that is the original Miura?
Yeahhh I know the original Miura is THE sportscar of the 20'th century, will never forget the Santa Barbara Concourse in 98 or 99 when Lamborghini was the featured brand and Jay Lenno rolled up with a car transporter and unloaded 6 ultra clean Miuras, a sight for sore eyes.....
Sure it's "pimped out" but still looks good, clean and sleek, it would be easy to find a set of rims that would look more like the stock set but still it's a nice car, I'll hav mine in satin black though....

I'm with Mr.B I think it looks good... I don't ever want to see one on the road.
Please Mr.Lamborghini come up with something original. Never look back, always look forward when building super cars... Bugatti has laid down a gauntlet!

I think its great!!! But I hope it doesnt go into production. Agreed. As an example of modern car design, it's meaningless since it looks just like a customised version of an original Muira (ditto for the Ford GT).

I think it's absolutely STUNNING. But I agree with this: I'm with Mr.B I think it looks good... I don't ever want to see one on the road. Please Mr.Lamborghini come up with something original. Never look back, always look forward when building super cars... Bugatti has laid down a gauntlet! Also, same goes for the Stratos remake too.

I've got mixed feelings about this one, as the Muira is quite possibly my all time favourite car. I love the fact they've given it a modern tilt, although I'm not a huge fan of what they've done... It brings the shape and feel to a whole new crowd. But what happens when the originators become imitators? In thirty years time are we going to look back and coo at the new/old/retro Muira? Nah, not me... I agree it's good to see, but just don't put it into production.

Nice enough looking car, but I agree that the way to make a new car that'll become a classic isn't to make some sort of bigger, spongier modern replica, it's to put in the same effort as they did with the original and come up with a car that gains its own fans, for its own reasons, like the original did. The current crop of retro themed cars (New Mini, New Beetle, Ford GT, etc) might be trendy, fashionable and 'quirky', (read deliberately different because everyone else's doing it and being 'individual' is so in these days), and they may even be better than some of the competition, but years from now will people still be adoring 21st century cars that want to look like 1960s ones, or will they have found new classics to adore? I can imagine that the Skoda Fabia will be a more likely candidate for preservation than the new Beetle, because it's a car in its own right, and more reperesentative of an early 21st century car than the new Beetle, which is reperesentative of a parody of a car that was reperesentative of a 60s icon, if you know what I mean.
