1969 Chevrolet long bed (8') pickup C10 trim level, which is basically a work truck Rebuilt original GM/Chevy 350ci (5.7 liter) V8 Edelbrok performer series 500CFM carb Tubular headers with dual exhaust Warmed up cam Turbo-Hydramatic 350 (TH350) 3 speed automatic transmission. Originally came with a 4 speed manual Aftermarket Vintage-Air Air Conditioning Drum brakes all around. I added a brake booster which helps. Aside from power steering, everything is manual ... no electric crapola. She could probably use a new exhaust, I'll likely get a complete Magnaflow system for her. Also needs to have the washer and wipers sorted out. Ok, enough jabber, let's get to the photos: Her underneath. Everything was pulled, cleaned, serviced, parts replaced as necessary, painted and bunged back in: Transfer case/box: Rear end: Motor: Interior: Need a new stereo, this one is pants: The bed. Had Linex spray their wonderful coating in the bed: The body shots: -Steve

That's lovely. Does she shift with that power, or is she too heavy etc?

That's GORGEOUS. And I'm envious, spent some time in Phoenix in '95 visiting ex-pat buddies, loved the place.

Thanks everyone ... She is pretty heavy and by no means a racer, plus some of that power is lost through the transmission. When I converted to automatic it I used a $50 junkyard transmission and it's about knackered now. But she can hang at 70 all day and pull anything with oodles of lovely torque. Replacing the transmission with a 4-speed automatic (700R4) for better MPG is on the list, as well as the column I would need to change as the shifter is on the steering column. The Linex stuff (also sold by Rhino Linings wwwwww.rhinolinings.com) is a rubberized plastic coating and it's tough as nails and it does work. As well as bed coatings a lot of the offroad crowd use it inside their vehicles when they run them in water half way up the wings. There are some products one can buy to spray or roll in too, but from what I've seen they're pants. If/when I get around to another steering column and tranny swap I'll keep pics. -Steve

Nice! Only see them round here sagging in the middle like a banana, all beaten up. Bed liner is a boon, had one truck done by Arma Coatings and the recent one with Line-X- the Line-X is a lot more stretchy but does like to peel up when people load things in badly with a forklift! Either way both are very well worth the money. It's nice to see it being used properly but yet taken care of --Phil

Looking for a 'new' house with the new missus. Took the old bird for a drive today and I managed to grab a pic of her looking fabulous (not the missus, she was taking a leak ;D). The big rock in front of the truck has petroglyphs on it. Anyway, the truck purred all day as usual ... reliable as a hammer ... Good times! -Steve

No idea what I would do with one, but I would be happy to have one, and a petrol bowser to go with it.

Grizz, yeh she is a bit of a drinker ... never passed a gas station she didn't like. It's not too bad, gas is about 2.60US$ per US Gal (3.8L) here so about 1.90UKP per UK Gal (4.5L). She's also a looker and very faithful and one can put up with some pretty bad habits if you know she loves you. I just use it for driving and stuff and picking up heavy/dirty objects. She started out as a work truck, which is why she doesn't have two tone paint or any of the chrome strips that came with the fancier models. From time to time I see this model truck driving around but they're usually trashed, four wheel drives jacked up like 10" in the air or two wheel drive over-painted street rods with too much billet. This is the only one I've seen for a very long time that has been kept pretty standard. -Steve

The air-con is aftermarket, it didn't come with it originally. The system is sold here by Vintage Air to fit in almost anything ... it's nice in the summer too!
