Right-ho, strange problem with my SU's here - a pair of twin HS4's - anyone know what this might be?
Basically, the car will not idle under 1000RPM, as soon as it falls below that it just cuts out and dies, the problem being that in my car the normal idle is 650-800RPM, which is rolling speed in drive - i.e. the car is undriveable unless you hold it on the brake and the accelerator.
If you come hard off the gas, it also falls below 1000RPM and cuts out. It pulls fine above 1000RPM with no problems, but if you come off the gas - clunk, it'll come down the rev range and stall out.
We tried adjusting the idle speed, but it just won't stay steady (it's very lumpy) under the 1000RPM and won't work well.
I've listened to both carbs, with a piece of hose, and the rear one was spitting and hissing - removed the damper and took a bit of fluid out and this noise went, they both seem to have clear throats and sucking as much as eachother.
And my choke linkage, has moved again
It's just really irritating me, as I've had a nightmare of a week with the car. A friend has offered to use his colourtune on it, so I'll do that tomorrow and see what's what.
Cunning suggestions or common flaws to look for? The carbs have new floats, float needles, needles and a new filter king fuel pressure regulator (which I assume is working O.K as the higher end of the rev range is fine).
