hey just thought id share my latest ride which replaced the deteriorating metro. Its a 1991 Mk3 Ford Fiesta 1.4i CVH EFI OAP Spec Picked it up locally: 2 owners from new 20,000 miles from NEW! MINT condition inside and out No rust anywhere Totally original done 5,000 miles in 2 months and not a single problem yet! plans were to keep it original and mint, the perfect daily to go up and down to uni in and do deliveries at work. but I cant stop thinking about this... + a set of these

That looks great, do the mod's you know you want to. May I suggest investing in a large amount of waxoil to keep her looking rust free!

cheers man, i fully waxoiled the car the minute i bought it home. its so clean underneath you could literally eat your dinner off it. I'm in two minds about the mods; it seems a shame to modify a car so original as this, and tp pull it off the car deserves coilovers and some 13"s with stretched tyres which i cant afford its much to good to start chopping springs and fitting some cheap 2nd hand wheels I'm also planning on getting a 309 gti when i finish uni next year so I'm thinking maybe i should wait?

Like that, sadly these aint apreciated enough yet in the standard form. But if u plan on getting summut else, keep this as it is enjoying it's mintyness, save towards the other car. ;D

A mint looking example i might add aswell !! The shopped version looks ace. And i've noticed ( well around my way),mk3's are getting thin on the ground. I quite like um.

I say defo don't mod it, specially not the bike carbs, it'll never run as well as a 20k-mile EFi set up. It looks an absolute honey!

I'd treat it to a good service to keep it as fresh as poss. get it lowered on quality new shocks and springs, and nice wheels, it should transform the handling and make it feel faster with less wobble happening. It really is time-warp and the silver makes it look modern and smart. Simple and subtle it could be a modest honey.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

but I cant stop thinking about this... Now that you've said it, it has to happen. You've let the "lowered on awesome wheels" genie out the bottle. Sorry ;D

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

i know its actually painful not to do it now! just missed some -60mm springs on ebay but found some new shocks and springs for £100 on demontweaks! think theres an error there but might have to take advantage of it. unfortunatly i cant afford those bbs splits! might have to settle for a set of 13" slotmags ive seen for sale

Cracking looking car and reckon the others are right that you shouldn't mess too much with it (although it is your car ). Reversible mods are always a good bet when you've got a minter - make no bones about it, this car WILL be worth money in the future, it might not be for quite a few years, but look what has happened to the mint Mk1's and what is happening to the mont Mk2's. Always worth more in original spec, so hang onto those springs/shocks if you change them. I know some people on here will be saying "but it's only a standard, cheap to buy and not ery retro Mk3. I bet the same people would have said as much about Mk1's ten years ago.....hope you get my drift? ;D Personally I don't think the cloverleaf alloys will work on a Mk3 - early 80's wheel designed for the angular Escorts on 90's rounded hatch....plus they are narrow enough that steels with a big drop would actually look better than cloverleafs with a big drop. Look at the amazing results you got with your Sunny to see what I mean. Having just looked through the Alleycat VS Comp CX thread, some Alleycats would look uber on a Mk3.....but then so would some nicely banded steels (but you know this already ) Looking forward to seeing what you do with this.....especially as you understand how stance is everything ;D ;D [EDIT] Just went looking for a set of banded steels that I remember seeing for sale in the parts section (on a Ka) but can't find them now! Typical!! Found these instead though which would look all kinds of awesome on your Mk3; retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=pfsw&action=display&thread=70858 [EDIT]

me and you think alike mystery machine my first thought was either alleycats or escort rs2000 4 spokes. seen the thread for the ka banded steels but unfortnatly my cash flow is seriously down at the mo should be back on track soon, then il look at getting some springs/shocks first. definitly only going to drop it on some wider wheels. then it will be simpler to reverse back to standard if i ever part with it. found these for sale near me... cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140360822152&_trkparms=tab%3DWatchinginteresting. whens the next play day up at area 52 then?

Personally I think your car will work better on steels than anything genuine Ford because nearly all the stock Ford alloys have been played out one way or another and some subtle banded steels or funky classics (like the Alleycats) will achieve a far better look.
Most Ford alloys are used because they're easy to swap over, cheap to buy and you find a lot of base spec Fords with wheels from a different model because the owner 'thinks' it makes the world of difference. For some reason I've seldom seen it look right.
A set of RS 7 spokes look right at home on an RS1600i or RST but look wrong on a stock (even if lowered) Mk3 escort. I hope I'm making sense??
As for the next PlayDay - Sat 12th Dec (+13th for anyone brave/drunk enough to stay over). It's a 'bodywork' day where we'll be looking at welding bodywork, making repair sections/panels, filling dents etc....
There are a few cars lined up for different jobs but the idea is everyone gets to learn a bit about repairing bodywork with a hands on aproach. Please feel free to come along?
More details will be appearing very soon - just getting a website sorted so that info, details & dates can be found more easily ;D
Cheers for now, Bruce.

the photo-shop car would possibly be one of the tidyest, and best looking mk3 festa's on the road, just so you know although those wheels look expensive, so anything with a bit of shine i think would be suitable

after much chin rubbing ive come to the decision to leave the car stock. in the hope that it will one day be appreciated like a standard mk1 fez would be.
the plan sell it next summer and get something ive been lusting after for a long time like a pug 309, citroen bx or a renault 11 and pour all my money into that as the car is a bit too small for me. besides it doesnt handle that bad at the moment and most of my money is spent on petrol getting to uni and back in it!
hoping i can make the next playday!
