	I got this in 1997 and used it almost daily up until 2004 when I took it apart and started a quick winter project to fit hydraulics. It all got a bit "involved" after that A few old pics..... And a few from last month behind my BM

	So the first thing was taking it apart AKA "the easy bit" Axle Then cut the cross member out and clean up the frame ready for the 1/4" plate Cross member on....... Off

	Frame cleaned up with the grinder....... Then cut some 1/4" plate with the lamp

	The point of all this is to wrap the chassis in 1/4 steel plate to help it withstand the extra abuse it'll get from the hydros so, out with the hot glue gun Kick-up plates welded in..

	Blimey. Theres a 4dr one of those in Crawley. I assume this has same setup as my '69 C body, IE a separate front chassis. Any strengthening to that?

Yes exactly the same, leaf rear, tortion front and uni-body constuction. 	Thanks for the positive comments The leaf springs are getting binned and there's also likely to be a fair bit of twisting force from the hydraulics so the axle needs a few subtle tweeks.......... Axle stripped then trailing-arm mounting plates welded to the old leaf spring mounts. 1/2" thick plate cut to shape and welded on the underside to add a bit of ridgidity and 4"x4"x3/8" angle on top to give more strength and a flat surface to mount the rams. (sorry about the curse word pics)

	The bit with the bolt in the middle is for the Watts linkage 1" square bronze block for a bearing, mounted in the centre arm with rose joints both ends welded in place with stainless tube for link rods and more rose joints The other ends are mounted as high as possible on the near-side and as low as poss on the off-side so the axle has the maximum travel before the linkages lock-out (I'm using 12" rams on the rear) N/S O/S

There's still a bit more The axle is kept straight by adjustable trailing arms made from 2" box with rubber bushes one end (which fit in the original spring yolks) and 20mm rose joints on the other. The top arm is made in the same way but had to bend in 2 places to avoid the underside of the car The two highest points of the chassis kick-ups are bridged with a piece of 10"x4" channel. The rams are mounted through this so all the load is on the chassis and not the body. They have a screw-on ball end which sits in a cup (known as a power ball) that is welded to the flat surface on top of the axle. On the bridge I've used pipe flanges to make carriers that let the rams swing forward and back while keeping them straight.

	I've done a bit to the front also........ Front chassis section with the hub ass'y removed and the bump stop perch before and after the grinder got to it Then cut a bit more 6mm plate and clad the whole thing The botom arm had to be modified to accept the rose joint for the ram which runs througha hole in the chassis that the shock occupied.
