never thought i'd say it but hey - being married is good for my cars! i've been given an ultimatum - i need the fastback finished by Bugjam. those in the know, will know that the fastback is very very less than finished, in fact it's an undrivable wreck. mechanically sound, it needs paint and interior and rewiring. and probably all the bits that mechanically were sound when i put it into storage two years ago. but part of this ultimatum is that i get some fundage every month, and it can be kept on the driveway instead of 25 miles away. so i can potter around with bits and bobs instead of having to find time to spend a whole day doing it. yay it's looking good now, i'm kinda excited. been years since this car has made me smile, but last time it did the smile took weeks to disappear. if anyone near Nottingham has facilities to transport a car, please let me know will roll but does not run.

Wowser.
Why don't I get ultimatums like that.
It's more like....'get that thing finished & off my drive - or I'm going to my mother's'.. ;D

Its cool when they do things like that.
My wife was sick of me twisting about working outside in the cold/rain/snow and dark so arranged to have my Garage floor concreted while I was in Japan on business. ;D ;D
Never stopped smiling yet

My fiancee isn't interested in cars but takes a philosphical view of things - if I'm messing around with my cars, she a) knows where I am, & b) also knows I'm not off drinking or chasing other girls (neither of which actually appeal to me).
As to whether she prefers the Amazon or the Sprite, it all depends on the weather!!

I have a car trailer you can borrow once a half broken (but still rolling) Rocco is moved from on top of it...
Only trouble is the trailer is only just long enough to fit a Rocco on - how long is a fastback?
PM me or something!

Must admit my O/H is fantastic when it comes to my interest in scrappy ol' motors... ...she encouraged me keep the Sceptre when I bought the Rambler ;D It certainly makes life easier...

|
... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

Thats great, sounds like a good egg. Good luck with the fastback. My B/H has learnt a fair bit and looks at cars around now, supports the whole thing but worries about my financial wellbeing when i see 'new' ones! I still manage to bore the hell out of her though! she just reads a novel or summat when that happens. ;D The award really does go to my mom though, after putting up with too much off my dad for years she allows me take up her garage with one rotting old thing or another, leaving her poor Metro out in the cold

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I normally find that girls that are into cars are normally more fanatical than the boys, just a rarity to find girls that really love there motors though unfortuantly.

Other halfs might be a better way to put it, I know a good few girls who are into motors, quite often they are as into their car and know it as inside out as a guy enthusiast would. Actually I know girls who say their boyfriends aren't happy about them liking motors too, I know a girl I went to school with who'se boyfriend hates that she's into Minis and is quite keen to know what goes on under the skin of a motor, which seems to give her boyfriend feelings of inadequecy or percieved threats to his masculinity or something, in any case he doesn't like it when I talk to his girlfriend about motors. Now I don't get on with her boyfriend, which gives me even more incentive to talk cars to her at every availible opportunity! ;D ;D

My girlfriend is starting to take an interest in what goes on under the bonnet. Probably so she can keep tabs on what I'm doing to her car ;D She's picking it up quite quick. I was explaining about the vacuum advance on her distributor and she understood it perfectly, top lass

my wife loves my cars, i built the golf up for her and she was always keen on new bits and bobs for it, even put aside a decent wad of cash for the sigma for me so i don't spend it on new toys ;D ;D

kept on the driveway instead of 25 miles away I know that feeling. My Golf is miles away (only about 5 mind) but it just takes away any interest I have in getting it sorted. If it was on the drive outside, I`d be out there every day. But as it is, I cant be bothered to tab down to the garage with all my tools (nowhere to lock them up where the car is) just for a few hours working on it. I often wonder if it will ever move again ! ;D

My Missus loves me working on the cars, as then she can go out in them. Also she gave me free usage of the spray shop. I guess she knows what makes me happy so why stop it.
